I'm using David Bibeault out of Lincoln, RI. He travels within an hour of Lincoln for free. He's coming up to the North Shore for our wedding in 2 days. Miss (Mrs.?) Starfish is also using him for her wedding!
I can't really comment on his wedding photos but I really liked our engagement pics and his style.
We didn't actually get to work with him but when we were considering having our wedding up in Rhode Island this photographer was willing to work with us with what we wanted and our budget. I personally love his pictures.
We are using Ed Collier. Great experience so far. He did our engagement pics and we love them.
What do you consider "high"? Our photographer, Lisa Rigby, is phenomenal, and only a couple of seasons into her career. She might be worth checking out for you! She doesn't charge extra for travel witin New England. www.lisarigbyphotography.com

I did use David Bibeault too, last weekend. He posted about 40ish photos on facebook and I love them. He was awesome to work with and sounds like he fits your style. We booked in 08 and he was the best price we found for the quality we wanted. If you have any questions, let me know. We are using John LoConte. He did a lovely job with our engagement pictures and is very reasonably priced. Although he is out of Haverhill, he does travel. I would suggest looking into him.
I have to recommend Meredith from &Unlimited - her photos are fantastic and she is just so genuine and nice! She's based out of Portland, ME but often travels to Boston and I'm sure the south shore would be fine too if she's available -

Seriously, www.littlefangphoto.com Lindsey Brisbine! She (and her husband Adam) just shot our wedding, their prices are very reasonable and they do a fabulous job - and sound exactly like what you are looking for. She also did my boudoir photos, and I was veryyyy happy with them.
We are using Derek Fowles. His photo-journalistic approach is the best I have seen out there! I think he is from the Springfield area but he is willing to travel. He is traveling to Groton for us.
Thank you everyone- we decided to go with a personal recommendation from a friend who used this photographer at her wedding. We are using Erin Chapman and are so excited!

I have had one photographer in mind for a while but i dont know if she's available for the date of our wedding yet (in process of reaching out to her) and i feel like i should look around at other options before settling. There's a long thread on boston photographers but we are about an hour south of boston (actually closer to providence) and the prices in Boston are very high. Anyone have recommendations for photogs in that area? Looking for photo journalism with posed shots, love photogs with a creative eye that capture the moments of the day, but also take a few photos that are unique and artistic.
