out of line for a full refund? you should sue for more.  Did you have a contract?

She was a nice lady.  No she wasn’t.

SprinkleDonut:  Definitely ask for a full refund! Tears or not, she did not deliver on the service which she was under contract for. This whole thing affected the rest of your wedding and that is not okay.

Are you worried she won’t deliver the photos that were taken?

SprinkleDonut:  right.  Maybe a discount in that case. She sounds sensitive to understand your upsetness if you explain to her the impact on your day in a calm way. At the end if the day it’s the photos you want, not the money

SprinkleDonut:  how about asking for extras too. Canvas prints, photo books etc

since she offered a full refund, you should ask for it! especially since it was a destination wedding and her “free offers” of  extra photo sessions are worthless to you

I wouldn’t ask for a full refund, because a photographer was still provided. She may refund you, but don’t expect to ever see your wedding photos then.  I would definitely express your disappointment, and state how the free photo session isn’t a useful gesture to you since you live out of town.  Hopefully she will at least give you a partcial refund or through in extra photobooks or something, but I wouldn’t expect full since you did have a photographer there for 4 hours.

We a similar thing happen with our flowers.  They eventually came, but their lateness made everything frantic and rushed and screwed up photos, and a lot of the flowers were not even remotely similar to what we orders (and a couple missing).  They wanted to appologize by sending us a flower arrangement, but as it was also a destination wedding for us, that wouldn’t have worked at all.  We ended up getting a partial refund, but even though they didn’t provide the service we wanted or had in the contract, they still provided a service, and handled the situation professionally.

SprinkleDonut:  Stop feeling apologetic. Nice and ‘not maliciously forgot’ has nothing to do with it.

Write to her short and sweet message that she has breached the contract and you want full refund ASAP.

The photographer that came is not the one you paid for AND it ruined your day.

I suspect that she had a shoot with someone else who maybe had a more expensive package or urgent booking and paid her for her trouble. Never on earth I can believe that a PROFESSIONAL could forget.

mgbser:  When you book a photographer you dont just book ‘A photographer’ but THE ONE you choose.

I went through like 30 to find the one i loved. Took me months. I had engagement shoot with her. I booked almost a year in advance. I dont want a random person shooting my wedding. I am paying an ARTIST for THEIR exclusive service, not ‘A photographer’, otherwise I could have my brother snapping away with my professional camera ( he’s really good, but not AMAZING, like my photo girl is).

The photographer in question is not ill nor affected by some ‘force majeur’, so unless the conract says she can cancel anytime INCLUDING on the day of the wedding, i would DEMAND full refund.

If she pitched late messing up my ceremony I would CONSIDER a partial refund if the pictures were REALLY good, otherwise I would consider taking her to court.

Bridezilla rant over.

You did have a service provided and nothing in this world is free. Yeah, you should get some money back, but I think a full refund is a bit much.
