So we had originally planned a desination wedding and had two different photographers in mind that were in our price range. We went ahead and took engagment pictures with the local one and now we have decided to have a local wedding due to logistics.
Well when I inquired about the price for wedding day pictures I was shocked to find out that the original package price I was told went up and wasn’t really a package, it was just wedding day coverage (I’m talking a $1000 dollar difference).
I’m unsure of how to proceed and word a discusion with her about it. We are having such a small wedding ~35 people, that I really don’t think we should be chaged the same as a 100+ wedding. And the price increase has it so we honstly can’t afford her if she doesn’t work with us. Any tips?

do you have anything in writing where they said the original price was for a package? and maybe i am missing something, but why would it be cheaper because you have 35 guests? is it because you don’t need the photographer there for the full day?

@lovemygsp: I’m not sure why you would get a discount for having a smaller wedding – you are still using your photographers time, and probably most pics will be of you anyway. My only suggestion would be to talk about the misunderstanding, let her know you really want her and ask if any accommodations can be made!

I second elizabeth2004. Seems the only thing you can do is explain that you understood a different price and the new price is outside your budget. Just be honest with them and ask if there is any way something can be worked out. Keep in mind, you may have to give something up in order to achieve a lower price. Either they can work with you or they cant. Good luck!

Photography is not charged at price per head like catering 😉
Just have a discussion with her, see what you can work out.
