My photographer is about to raise prices.  Our plan was to just have them shoot the wedding and worry about albums and extra sessions (engagement or in our case after wedding because we're broke) later.  Now I'm wondering if I should suck it up and get a package before the prices go up.  Has anyone opted to postpone the bells and whistles just to get it done?  Did you have regrets about not getting the package?

Ask your photographer if you book your wedding now, will he include your engagement session for free.  Most photographers will do that or at least charge a very nominal fee.

I'm not getting all the bells and whistles albums because my FI doesn't like them. He doesn't like the Leathercraft books or the artsy coffee table books. He said that he would prefer that I scrapbook our wedding pictures (which shocked the uber h*** out of me because I never knew he actually LIKED my scrapbooks THAT much!)

Nominal for our guy is $500 for e-pics.  We'll get $100 off if we book now.  Your FI sounds sweet.  I may have my FMIL do our album.

I booked our photographer and only got one album from her because her albums are awesome. Included is a DVD of images and I'm going to use that to make a Blurb.com album for the parents after the wedding. I think as long as you get the rights to your images, you can wait until you have more money to do the 'bells and whistles."

As for the engagement photos, ours does include hers for free but we don't live anywhere close to where we're getting married. We had a photojournalism student at the nearby university take them. I gave her a $50 Target giftcard (she was thrilled!) and she can also use them to build her portfolio. Maybe check into options like that?
