The way I see it if you're going to splurge-do it on photography. I am in the same position and I am taking the high road with the high price. My friend used the same photographer and LOVED his shots and said they were a blast to work with. Photos are all you will have when the day is over and if you found someone you love-I say go for it. Just make up for it by doing some DIY.
I agree that it's worth it to splurge a little on your photog :) But if you need a few more photographers in the Seattle area to check out, here are a few I found when I was researching. Jenny GG and Kristen Honeycutt are the lowest priced out of these I believe, but they also book up fast:

Hope that helps!
I was in the same boat as you. All the edgy, vintage looking photographers in Seattle are so expensive. I came across Jessica Valle and contacted her. Unfortunately, she moved from Seattle to Ohio but told me she travels to various cities to do the photography for weddings.
She has come to Seattle multiple times since I first contacted her and we met up. She is super nice, very Nicole Richie-esque, and agreed to be the photographer for my wedding for only $1500. This includes the cost of travel, unlimited hours for the day of the wedding, 500 photographs, permission to use the copyrights of the photographs, and free touch ups. This is a fabulous deal!
My wedding is October 2, which I think is the weekend before yours, so she might be a good option for you.
Keep in mind, she may have cut me a deal with the $1500 and I'm not sure if that is her normal price, although she was very vocal about how she hated photographers jacking up the price, so I'm sure she is lower than most of the Seattle photographers.

Good luck!

One Love and Ben Blood seem to be the most popular wedding photographers but I think the prices might be a little above what you're looking for.
We haven't actually gotten married yet but so far I'm really happy with our choice of photographer, Heather Espana, and I consider her very reasonably priced. Check out
Check out the "featured wedding". I'm hoping that's what ours turns out like!
Our photographers are Angela & Evan Photography. They're a fun newly married couple just getting into the business. Fantastic photographers and great prices:
2 of my friends have recently booked them too :)
We are using style.ish. They are a husband and wife team and are fairly new so their rates aren't too high but their work is fantastic. Their style is a lot like Yvonne Wong's.
Next week I'm meeting with Rebecca Jane Phototgraphy. Her rates are great ( under $1000) and her pictures seem wonderful.
Saia weddings is amazing. http://www.saiaweddings.com/
We got the basic package for 2k and tacked on an engagement session, which was SO worth it.
He's a super laid back, relatively young and very talented photographer who plays a lot with light, which is kinda our theme. Here's a link to our engagement pics. We met him at his townhouse in Portage Bay, met his wife and young baby, just a friendly experience. Made us feel really good in front of the camera. Can't wait until he does our wedding!

Not happy with how my hair turned out in some but that isn't his fault!
One great thing, he didn't pressure us to buy a book, which we can't afford. I apprecaited that.
Thanks for the information.
Based on your recommendations, we did meet with Kristen Honeycutt (NICE LADY!) but decided that she was a little too much into "your wedding pictures will be your art and 8 x 10 is very small..." as well as pretty pricey for what you got (no second shooter?).
I checked out everyone's suggestions and was impressed by Angela and Evan! They looked great. I'm thinking about contacting them.
We did LOVE Dana Pleasent...thinking about going with her. For around $2K we get an engagement session, 6 hours of two shooters, full rights to our pictures and her style.
I'll let you know what we decide.
I know these photography posts are mostly closed, but I thought I'd give some updated photography information in the $2000 and less category for those that come to the forum later.I did a ton of research to find a great photographer that would fit into this budget and hope someone can benefit! I'm giving you just the photographers that I liked enough to contact.
Kate Ford Photography: she's new to Seattle but not to shooting weddings. She's done a few weddings totally on her own now and has second shot a ton. Her style and photos are all exceptionally beautiful. She has a lot more in her portfolio than on the website, so meet up with her to see more! http://katefordphotography.com/htmlver/index.php
Jenny G-G: I kept running across Jenny on OffBeat Bride! She's been shooting weddings for a long time but still has really reasonable packages and she's willing to switch some things out if necessary. We're meeting her today so more on her later! I love her spunky style. http://www.jennygg.com/
Angela and Evan: I love their photos. They were one of my top pics, but they only have one sub-$2000 package which includes 4 hours of photography. If you bump up to $2400 it's 6 hours which still wasn't enough for us. However, they are a husband and wife team so you're getting two principal photographers and an e-session with any of their packages. http://www.aeimagery.com./index2.php
Kristin Marie Photography: Never met with her because her packages were more than we wanted to spend for the amount of time we needed. But she sent me the most enthusiastic, comprehensive email that I've received from a photographer! I bet she'd be great to work with. Her $2000 7 hour plus e-session package might work well for a lot of people though. She has great style. http://www.kristenmarie.org/
C2 Photography: We're meeting them tomorrow, so more then! For now though, another couple team that put out great shots. Check out their blog. For $1600-$1900 you can get a pretty awesome comphrehensive package. http://www.c2photography.com/
There are definitely other professional sub-$2000 photographers out there, but these are the only ones that I found that I thought had the style and experience that I wanted. I'd be happy to PM people other names if interested. Everyone, please keep adding to this list so it can be a great resource to others trying to find a photographer.
I wanted to throw our photographer into the mix! I just love her personality and she really seemed to get that we didn't want to be 90's posing! She was referred to us as a friend and we got a great deal on that as well, so if you want too, go ahead and use my name!
Teresa May23, 2010 and Seattle Harbor Club and she should know who I am :)

She just moved up here so she is new to the area, used to work in California!
Not sure if you've booked someone yet, but I went with Rachel Bayne from Bellingham - http://www.baynephotography.com/. She did my cousin's wedding in '08, so I know her work is good. I was so pleasantly surprised by her prices after looking in Seattle, I was sold immediately. I went with her package that includes the photobooth, for something fun for the guests to do. Good luck!
This lady did our engagement session and the price was great. She's worth checking out!

Not sure if you booked a photographer yet, but we are using Dana Pleasant. We haven't done our engagement shoot yet becasue we live in LA, but we were really impressed by her work. We are getting married at Lake Union Cafe, which is really difficult to shoot. It's very dark and there are a lot of mirrors and glare. I spent hours looking at pictures of our venue online and the ones that Dana took were amazing! No glare or funny looking lighting, we were so relieved! I was also impressed by her creativity. There is a funny little room downstairs at LUC that has a lot of character, but is a bit dumpy. She made it look great in the pictures. It's hard to explain, but I would've never thought to take pictures downstairs but now I definately will. I didn't see many other pictures in that room on other photographer's sites.
There's thread for quality under 3k photographers here, hope this helps!

Got a killer deal (under 1,000 for an engagement, full day coverage, rights, website, etc) from Sean Sherman...seanshermanphotography.com he has a facebook too under that name where he has a ton more stuff and is easy to contact. I wrote a snippet on him here: http://www.mywedding.com/daneanddesiree/blog_post_57851.html .
If you happen to have an increase in budget onelovephoto.com has an awesome husband wife team based out of Tacoma. I think they are 3,200.

Sorry, there are no users yet.
I was wondering if anyone has a photographer recommendation and could give me a ballpark figure for their services.
So far I've been looking at Yvonne Wong (LOVE HER STYLE), but I'm not sure I can take the price tage that's attached to those beautiful pictures around $3K.
Dana Pleasent is another photographer that we've been looking at who looks good and she's closer to our price range around $2K.
I'm worried that since we are doing most of our searching via the internet we are missing out on great photographers who are less expensive but don't have websites.
Any suggestions out there?
