$5400. Includes travel costs, no time limit, unlimited shots (usually 2500-3000), leather craftsmen album (which is a coffee table book), engagement session with portrait and negatives, 250 proofs of final images, online proofing and ordering, all negatives from wedding (so I can make Blurb books for parents).
I thought this was high , but I live in CA - I could tell the quality difference in photographers with lower prices, and the person that I LOVED would have charged $8k for this same package - and I think our photographer does fabulous work. Good luck!
It's probably reasonable. Really great photographers can charge over $10,000 for a one-day photography package, if they're in demand. BUT! You don't have to pay that much. The photographer we booked, for example, cost $2900 for all day photography (unlimited hours), and the price included an engagement shoot, second photographer, and a CD with ALL the high res edited images, and we love love loved him. If your first-choice photographer has provided a price is out of your budget, I would first check what is included in the package price and see if you can eliminate any included items from the package that you don't need by having her create a custom package for you. You may want to skip having a credit for prints, for example, or an album included in the package.
If they're still out of your budget, one of the best ways to find more affordable photographers with a similar style is to write to the expensive photographer and basically flatter them by telling them how much you love their work but unfortunately they're a little over your budget, and then ask for a recommendation for something more in your budget. We found ours that way and were thrilled with our engagement photos.
$3000. Includes engagement session, CD with images, unlimited shots. Not including the leather album, which she said cost $1200 but we can order it anytime after.
I think it's reasonable. Her usual rate is $4500 but she gave me discount because I my wedding is on a Friday and it's only a small intimate affair so she doesn't need to bring an assistant.
2900 for unlimited hours that day, 2 photographers, all high-res images on a CD a month after the wedding, and travel expenses.

we paid $4700 for 8 hours of shooting with an assistant, no albums. we got maybe 1200 or so printed proofs. but this was 3 years ago.
$1,200 for 5 hours of coverage, mileage, and engagement pictures. I get the digital pictures and can print them anywhere. Any prints and albums are extra. A great deal for my area NOVA - and she seems pretty together/ direct - I think I'll like working with her.
But from looking around - average is about at least $3,000.
$5000 plus travel for 8 hours coverage with 2 shooters, 800 - 1000 photos, leather bound proof book, online proofing and ordering, engagment session which we are swapping for a day after shoot, and I can't remember what else. This is our largest cost, but totally worth it! ;)
I think we are getting a fabulous deal, but here's the info:
$2700 for award-winning WPJA photog includes unlimited day-of shooting, 700-900 photos taken, all hi-res edited images on cd with copyright release, web-based highlights slideshow set to music, album (our choice of 100 large, 200 med, or 400 small), and 2 hours travel
$200/hour for us (doing either 6 or 7 hours). We get all of the hi-res images on CD with copyright release, but no album or anything.
$4500 for 8 hours & two photogs in SoCal - we get all our prints on a disc, includes our album and parents' albums (coffe table book style), & engagement session (she's local so no travel costs, etc.)
we're also paying for both their meals - all our vendors are sitting in one table and eating along with us (DJ, wedding planner & her assistant, etc)
We paid $3,400 with no album (two shooters) but our photographer now charges $4100 BUT includes the album. This included an engagement session, 8 hours on the wedding day, proof prints in archive boxes (1900 of them in 5 small boxes still sitting on our sideboard), and an album consult. But this was in VT. It depends on what area you live in -- metro areas are more expensive.
My feeling -- looking around in the NY/CT area and then in VT is that you can't pay less than $3K for someone really good unless they are just breaking out but are already super talented.
Our photographer is $7000. For reference, we are in the SF Bay Area. The package includes:
*Co-copy right with written sign-off from photographer.
*One set of edited first edition 4x6 proofs a of (a minimum of 800+ images); pictures will be 20% black and white and 80% color
*The edited set of original high resolution digital files on gold DVD
*90 days of web-hosting for engagement session and wedding (password protected)
*All pre-wedding consultation time, site checks and up to one hour post-weddingconsultation time..
*Albums:30-page 11x14 magazine style wedding album (Black Leather/Metal cover)
*10 hour coverage with 1 hour complimentary overtime on wedding day
*2 hour coverage at engagement session, place of your choosing
*2 photographers on the wedding day
<ul class="bullet">
we're also getting e-pics, which is another $450.
$5500, including travel and hotel. We live in Philly but are having a destination wedding in the Caymans, and we're flying the photographer in from Indianapolis. The photographers on the island were so expensive that it ended up being cheaper to fly her in from the states! We get unlimited coverage for the weekend, a second shooter, Pictage photo gallery, one leather-bound album, two parents' albums, a proof book, and a CD of high-res images with a released copyright.
$1200 includes 6 hours, unlimited shots and all will be given to us on CD with a copyright release. we can make our own books prints, whatever. we are located in albany, ny.
$1200 includes 8 hours AND TWO photographers, as well as travel.
We get unlimited shots
Full copyright-released images (ALL photos are corrected/retouched and given proper adjustments and effects, includ.)
Online hosting - password protected

I am sure this has been discussed before, and I apologize if it's an exhausted topic.
I just got back a quote from a photographer that we love (her website is fabulous), but I have no idea if it's reasonable or outrageous.
Does anyone mind telling me what their's cost?
