We are having our ceremony and reception in the same place (clubhouse at a golf course.) While the staff are moving the chairs from the ceremony to the reception, we were planning on having a receiving line, but decided against it. We wanted to start the reception pretty quickly after the ceremony to avoid people being bored and not having anything to do between the two events.
So my questions are – is 1 hour enough time to take photos with the bridal party? We are doing photos on the golf course (very beautiful, filled with trees and country roads.) There will be a MOH and 1 BM and then the BM and GM, so 6 of us, plus family photos. I think my FI and I are going to do a first look, so we could take most of our pictures before hand and perhaps some after the reception.
Will people be bored to wait at the club for an hour (or longer if we need it?) I was thinking we would set up our signature drink and some light snacks out in the waiting area, and then once the room is ready, everyone could start getting seated.
Andd my last option is to do photos after. The reception would most likely be finished by 4:30, so would our bridal party/family be pissed if they had to stay behind to take photos?
What have others done for brunch receptions or afternoon type weddings?
