I just started planning a small wedding in Rhode Island. Being from South Carolina I have no idea on price ranges. I did get a quote that I think is really good from a photographer but I wanted to make sure so I was wondering about what the average price is for four hours of coverage?

Bump because I’m still curious about this

I know our photog (who is based out of Boston) charged us $2100 for 7 hours plus a second shooter and gave us over 2,000 images…She’s awesome, by the way, highly highly, hiiiiiiighly recommend her! I know she’s flexible in her rates and packages too…

When I looked in 2008, the bulk seemed to be 5k-10k, but you can find some under that. Our photographer was, but I had to do a lot of looking to find him!

We were quoted $999 for three hours or $1299 for four hours for the photography, an engagement or day after shoot, and a cd of the pictures. That’s for an off season, Sunday evening wedding and the photographer is based in Connecticut and has a photojournalistic style. I thought it sounded pretty good and I know he told me he’d work with me because it was such a random time to get married and he knew I’m used to working on a South Carolina budget. I just wanted to make sure.

Can I recommend my photographer? He’s based in CT and was about $1700 (if I remember correctly) for all day with two photographers (Hubert and Alka) and a disc of all images. They did a really good job and I think they were definitely worth the money.
If you decide to contact him ask about a discount for a Sunday evening wedding – I bet you’d get some kind of break!

I loved Mrs. Potato Chips photographer … Hinkley Photography. They did an awesome job! I’m not sure what they cost, but for a good, high quality photographer, with reproduction rights to your images and at least eight hours of coverage and a second shooter, you’re probably looking at about $3K.
I’d highly recommend you splurge on a really good photographer though. Once the day is over, the photos are all you have left.
