Hey there, I am a wedding photographer located 45 minutes west of Charlotte. I would suggest anywhere downtown is great! There are a lot of parks, including Freedom, that would make for a beautiful backdrop for your pictures. Something you might want to try since both you and your photog are out of town is contacting the local Chamber of Commerce to ask about specific locations you may have in mind! Good luck with your search and have fun at your photo session, Charlotte is a great city to roam around in!
Freedom Park near the Ampitheater, gardens at UNC Charlotte, the area around the Hilton in University Place North side of Charlotte. There is also a lovely garden area in Concord (north of Charlotte) called Memorial Gardens at 50 Spring St SW, Concord. They ask for a donation to do Bridal portraits but if you just go there in regular clothes I don't think they ask. All the best.
Davidson College -- about a half hour outside of Charlotte. Very quiet on the weekends. The grounds are a mega-acre preserve, beautiful old southern-federal-style buildings -- so you can get that concrete, steps and columns feel, and there are some arches and magnificent lobbies, guest houses for backdrops too. and of course, the greenery (or fall foliage) this time of year, gorgeous trees all over the central campus quad can't be beat. I have never in my life seen a campus like this one. Kids are gracious. no one will get in your way. Bleachers might be a fun shot too, if either one of you was/is a jock! directions are a snap from Charlotte international airport. have fun!

I live in Charlotte, but I'm not from Charlotte so I'm having a hard time finding places to take my wedding photos. I'm getting married downtown but I dont know what's considered a nice backdrop for pictures. I really need SOMEONE, ANYONE'S help. Wedding is in October.
I think that depends on what type of look you are going for. For the urban feel, downtown obviously is great. If you are looking for more of an outdoors feel, you can visit any of the bigger parks (Memorial, Freedom Park). Also, you can do cute "town" shots, perhaps in downtown Matthews (with the old school side by side stores on little streets).

Im looking for a great place in Charlotte as in a park, museum, or anything like that to take pictures. As I am out of town and my fiance is not a social bug, my photographer (who is out of town also) asked me to find a place to take pictures, I dont want an overcrowded place i.e. freedom park. So can anyone think of a place?
