My photographer is candid, photojournalistic style with lots of natural lighting. One of my bridesmaids expressed her dislike towards his photos. The old school well known photographer's around here use the same poses, and everyone gets the same dark washed out overpriced photography that personally I would be disappointed to look back on. It was refreshing to find such a natural photographer at a very reasonable price. I am paying for them, I should be able to get the style I want! They will appreciate your photos regardless because they love the people in them
Today's styles are a lot different than the old ones, I could see them being uncomfortable with that. But, I love how different and interesting today's photojournalistic photographs are! I know i'll be drooling over my photos for decades to come, regardless of how the other people in my life feel!
(PS your engagements photos are AMAZING and I think they are blind if they can't see that!)
@HolyVowels: that's exactly the issue they had - photojournalistic is not their style, but was exactly what we were looking for!
@crayfish: thank you. :) I agree 100% - and I feel the photojournalistic style is really more real. My grandparents have a beautiful wedding photo, but they look stiff and posed. I love the joy that you can see in candids!
Ours has a modern style but will do traditional shots too...so everyone should be happy. I'm sure your photographer will do the same if you wanted them to.
If FI and the bride love them but no one else does then /facepalm to them! lol :) .....better than everyone else liking them and you don't.

Anyone else have future in-laws who don't like the same style of photography?
It's not a big deal, but both of the FILs expressed that they didn't like our engagement photos. We paid for them completely, and are very happy with them - so much that we are definitely booking our talented photographer for the wedding- but it does make me sad to know that they may not like our wedding photos.
This isn't really a complaint, I get that everyone else has different tastes! Has anyone else had a similar situation? Did you have a meet-in-the-middle compromise, like adding some traditional shots to the list of must-have photos?
