if you buy it, you can get it student priced at most university bookstores. That's the only tip i have :)
Look at pixelmator also. It's a bit cheaper, and it's what I use. I quite like it. Unless you have some serious professional level editing to do, it works very very well, and is very user friendly.
I have photoshop elements and love it... I used it for all of my wedding design stuff. I'm such an amateur, but it was perfect for me!
I see that Ms.Licorice used it for all her wedding elements and her stuff turned out beautifully! I may shop around this weekend.
mrs tiramisu went back and looked at your DI posts and you did an awesome job on your stuff. It looks like Elements may be the way to go.

Who uses Photoshop Elements out there?
I thought it was just for editing photos but from reading some of the board posts it appears that you can design invitations and a host of other cool things with it.
I am teaching myself Mac Pages & Iphoto (for editing photos for incorporation into stationery designs) right now but want something that has a little more flexibility and power.
