Due to a disagreement & bridezilla moment with my original caterer, I've changed my wedding to an all inclusive facility that is a popular choice in the Vancouver area. I'm putting the deposit down tonight!

My FI, the hive & myself worked SO hard to pick our menu w/ caterer #1... it was our dream menu. So now I can't get excited over the choices at our new reception venue. It's not as personalize, but the food is still outstanding.

Each dish is served with a different side:

    1. Chicken: Mashed potatoes, thyme jus & confit garlic
    2. Gnocchi: Sauteed leeks, sunflower sprouts & fontina cheese
    3. Salmon: Fingerling potatoes, seasonal vegetables & rapini walnut pesto
    4. Steak: Red wine jus, steak fries & seasonal vegetable
    5. Lamb: Black olive quinoa risotto & roasted sunchokes

Please help me narrow down our entrees: Pick what you'd eat please!!

Steak!! I always love a good steak! I also love gnocchi, but the leeks didn't do it for me.

Well Gnocchi is just dumplings... I threw it on there as a vegetarian option. Sunflower sprouts & fontina cheese w/ gnocchi? Ick... it just sounds too mushy for my taste.

Yeah, it sounds weird. I have usually had it with cheese and cream sauce and it's heavy as hell but SO delicious. The sprouts and leeks... well, I guess if you're *actually* a vegetarian and don't just dabble in it occasionally you have to learn to be less picky than I am. ;)

love your fantastic choices. turnip gnocci sounds amazing. sockeye salmon sounds amazing. it's amazing if you can offer free-range chicken... and my favorite is lamb! so i'd be thrilled with your menu, however you slice it.

@sleepylittlesailor: The menu is 100% Canadian & local. This venue is very green & globally minded. :)

agree - any of those entrees would be a great choice!  Right now i'm sick and my fiance is making dinner, so we'll be eating rotisserie chicken and kraft mac n cheese ;-)

I would go with either the gnocchi or the salmon as I prefer not to eat poultry and I don't eat red meat or lamb. I love gnocchi and leeks and root vegetables and I love salmon.

VERY hard to choose, those are all amazing options! I voted for the gnocchi, but I think my second choice would be the lamb :)

Wow... I'll eat my words. The Gnocchi is in 3rd place?!?

I'm totally surprised. I knew the steak & salmon would reign supreme, but I thought for sure chicken would come in third. :) Thanks for your input! Keep it coming

Well, I voted for the gnocchi, but I'm also vegetarian, he he he. So you might want to factor that in as well. Although gnocchi IS delish! Your posts are making me hungry!

Hmm that's a good question... our original catering menu had seafood on every plate! Oh my gosh. I'm so glad you brought that up!!

I live on the West coast of Canada-- If we didn't serve salmon my guests would revolt!!

I would really want the mashed potatoes - but again I have an allergy so I would pick salmon - grilled with lots of lemon or if I felt like being fatty I would get the steak and fries but I like medium well and charred.

Steaks are never cooked to my liking at events like that so I went with salmon.

Yum! Yum! and YUM!  Those are off the hook menu choices.  I'd be a horrible guest, RSVP for 5 people and select each. haha :)

I'm a huge lamb fan, so it gets my vote.

I'm also a big gnocchi fan - but, I'd ask them how they are making it and if it's homemade.  The already frozen stuff that's typically served in restaurants is NOTHING compared to the stuff that's homemade.  Sometimes it's rolled, sometimes it's in big, soft, fluffy pillows of goodness ....

How many do you need to narrow it down to?  I'd say the meat and lamb are an either/or selection.  That leaves you with fish/chicken or pasta.  I'd say you'd have to do the gnocchi for the vegetarians.  If it were me, I'd do: salmon, gnocchi, and lamb.

@oracle: I'd hunt you down & kill you for RSVPing with 5 guests!! lol jk. It's just, I like to think I've come up with a fool proof system to avoid +1's (or 5's) ahh!!

Also, I'm told that nothing is ever frozen... all fresh, local ingredients.

The steak sounds delish. My second choice would be the Gnocchi. Third choice would be the chicken or salmon. I don't eat lamb.

It sounds like you made the right decision. Looking at these choices just made me hungry!

So the lamb is out...  I've decided to serve:

    Salmon
    Steak
    ???

I can't decide between the chicken or gnocchi. I wouldn't eat the gnocchi dish & I feel funny about offering my guests something I wouldn't like myself...

    Chicken or gnocchi??

If you're choosing between chicken and gnocchi now, I'd choose the gnocchi.  The meat-eaters would probably choose steak over chicken, if given the option.  The seafood eaters have salmon, and the veggie-lovers would probably love to see a veggie-ful option!

i'd love any of them, and voted for the salmon.  I wish I could offer some of those things.  But I know the majority of people coming to our wedding wouldn't touch anything that's not chicken or steak.  LOL

I second the gnocchi for the same reasons parfait said... poor boyfriend wouldn't have anything to eat!
