Has anyone picked their own wedding flowers from a flower farm? Just wondering what that experience was like… I’m considering doing this because 1) I think it would be fun, 2) I think it might be cheaper, and 3) We’d be able to get that rustic, wildflower look I want. But, I’m worried it might also be stressful and time consuming.
Anyone tried it? Was it affordable? What farm did you use?

I looked into some DIY flower options but didn’t find anywhere to pick my own. I don’t think that would be a good idea since I imagine you’d need to pick them a day or two before the wedding date.
I did find a wholeale flower place in silver spring called Potomac Wholesale Flowers. You can pick exactly the flowers you like and place an order for pickup.
There is also a florist in Baltimore that only uses local, in season flowers. It’s called Local Color Flowers. They make great arrangements that look rustic. They were all booked for my wedding day but if they weren’t I would’ve loved to go that route.

I did pick-your-own flowers for a baby shower that I hosted. That was enough stress for me. LOL The thing with wildflowers is that they are only good for a day or two before the wilting and discoloration set in. The days leading up to my small wedding were madness. I cannot imagine trying to work flower picking and arranging into that schedule.
That said, if you are willing to make the drive, there is a pick-your-own flower farm called The Sunflower Place (or something like that) in Westminster, MD that grows real stunners.
