- Wedding: June 2012
So, I have been waffling on a reception theme for a while now.
We are having our reception at a hunting & fishing club. I pretty much figured that the venue dictated we had to do something rustic. I was okay with that as we are really outdoorsy and it kind of fit.
Our wedding ceremony is in this really awesome old hunting lodge that has two lofts on either side of the main floor. One is set up for the bride, decorated in pink with antique furniture. The other is set up for the groom, decorated in black leather and wood.
I decided to make bunting signs for each loft to hang from the banisters. They will both be made of linen, and read “HIS” and “Hers”. His will be linen lined with camoflauge trim. Mine will be linen lined with lace.
I got the materials home, and it just dawned on me… my wedding theme will be “linen and lace”! I got to thinking that I always wanted a lace wedding gown, but when I tried them on, there were 2 lace dresses I loved, but my family gave no kind of reaction. I ended up with a satin gown. I spoke to my FMIL after the shopping experience, expressing a bit of dissapointment with the lack of reaction to the lace dresses, and she said, “they were beautiful dresses, but they were so predictable.”
I can now bring lace into my wedding through the decor, it will be something unpredictable, and I won’t be blending in.
What do you ladies think? Is it a good theme? Have you seen anything like this? Here is the first inspiration pic I can’t wait to start making!
