I really just wanted to share my wedding dress story.
The first time I went shopping was with a very good friend at work, my boss even gave me the day off to go! I tried on the Sottero Miri gown twice and was set on it for $1200. But I had an appointment in Atlanta with my bridesmaid.
We went to this awful store that had all the tags cut out! They wouldn’t even tell me who made the gowns! Also, the girl helping me wouldn’t leave the dressing room at all! And she didn’t even know what the dresses were made of! We ended up at lunch with my bridesmaid apologizing! I told her about this little shop that carried really high end gowns and we should check them out. Everyone warned me not to put on a gown that was over my $1500 budget. But this trip was really just to have fun.
When we got there the receptionist led us to a rack of sample dresses. They were all over $5000. I finally told the lady helping us that we weren’t going to find anything. She asked me a few more questions and then came walking out with Allison by Lea Ann Belter in champagne. I prayed I hated it because when I saw her carrying it I knew it was my gown. I tried it on and called my fiance right then and told him we were buying a dress. Meridith, the lady helping us said ‘this one is a sample and on sale for $1000’. So now it was even in my budget?!?!? We payed and set up the first fitting appointment.
The dress is a size 8. It barely fit, when i went back I could hardly breath! Second fitting the same thing! I was getting worried! I picked it up today, it fit perfect. Also, the dress was actually one $900, alterations $300 and cleaning $250, Still under budget! And, i was going through my wedding binder and on a sheet of paper I wrote ‘Kelly’s Closet’, that’s where I ended up getting my dress. The only shop I put in my binder… <3
