My sister got married there! It was a beautiful location! I would recommend moving to August. You might have a chance of fog rolling in at night, but the extra daylight comes in handy as this venue didn't have any outdoor lighting (at least 8 years ago it didn't), which made it difficult for the caterers to clean up at the end.
One way to combat the possible "nippiness" of Northern California summer evenings is to get some inexpensive wraps (start trolling Ross & Marshall's) and have them in a basket so people can grab them if they get chilly.
Good luck!
That is a great idea!!!
Also how cool that she got married there. I think we're gonna go with the August date... Just sounds like a safer plan. Thanks for your input :)

Hi Bees! My Fiance and I will be getting married at the lovely Garden Valley Ranch in Petaluma, CA. It's basically Northern Bay Area, and while we wanted to get married on 10/2/10, I've recently started debating that date because of a few things: Our wedding site is COMPLETELY outdoors. Northern Cal doesn't get "cold" at night, but it can get nippy, depending on the weather. I also realized that in October, it gets dark around 7:00. My mom has voiced some concern that if it gets dark around 7:00, outdoors, even if we rent heaters, that people will start leaving early. This is a legit concern I think. If we push our date to August (probably beginning of August as I don't think the venue is available at the end of August), we'll have an extra hour of daylight and the weather will likely be warmer. I think I know what makes sense here, but I just loved the sound of the date 10/2/10 and a fall wedding. Any ideas or hints? We could always rent outdoor space heaters but I'm wondering if it would just be smarter to try and go with a warmer/lighter time period. If we did August instead of October I would lose about a month and a half of planning time, but at this point, we would still have eleven months (instead of 13). What do you awesome bees think?? One thing to consider is that the music has to be off at 9 pm anyways.. so I think I'm just struggling between going with a cooler sounding date (I know, a little vain) and possible weather problems... or a less cool-sounding date and more predictable weather circumstances. Thanks so much for your input!
