I have having dress decision issues. Mostly (I think) because I am chubby and the sample dresses do not fit and make it hard to judge what they will look like in my size.
I was really liking dress 1, but when my mom saw it she didn’t love it on me like I thought she would (she is usually good at picking what I like and she is usually my go-to person for these decisions.) When I tried it on again I realized that while I didn’t feel fat in it, I felt SHORT. I am only about 5’5″ but I don’t usually feel short. The saleswoman had been very helpful and when I asked her opinion she said that there isn’t really enough of my waist for all 4 rows of beading and that is why I feel short.
Dress 2 manages to give me a waist because of it’s corset back and the beading on the bustline brings up your eyes and makes me boobs look bigger (they need any help they can get). The shiny material tends to make me look heavier, but with the design of the dress, I think that it isn’t too bad.
Dress 3 is kind of a combo in that the waistline is similar to dress 2 but the dress is more flowy like dress 1. I was not able to try this dress on at all as it wouldn’t fit me (the others were similar in size, but I couldn’t even get this on on). I have not found it anywhere else to try on either. I like the asymetrical front, but I don’t know how it’d look on me as it doesn’t seem as full skirted as the others.
In addition I plan to have sleeves somewhat like Picture 4 added to whichever dress I choose as I hate how the top of my arm looks. So I am trying to keep that in mind as they won’t work with some dresses. I don’t mind my shoulders showing, and I hate borleros (on me, my bridesmaids want them and that’s fine) so I want something to shade the widest part of my upper arms.

Do you have any stores in your area that carry larger sample sizes? I bet if you posted on your local board some of the other bees might know. The only reason I suggest this is because I did not like a lot of the dress I picked out to try on, I think you need to try a gown on to see how you feel in it.

Oh, and here is a pick of me so you can try to imagine the dresses on a shorter, chubbier person!

It is hard to judge without seeing pics of the dresses on you, but based on the way you described them all, I think you should keep looking. I don’t think you should describe your wedding dress as “not too bad”…. so keep looking until you find something that is at least “good” but hopefully “great” or “perfect”.

Oh man, its so hard to tell you since there aren’t photos of you in the dress! But the 2nd one sounds and looks the nicest.

I like dress #2 the best.

I say go with dress #2, not only is it gorgeous but corset backs are amazing for both fit and detail to the back of the dress. I don’t think you can go wrong with this one..and I think cap sleeves would be a nice touch!

I don’t know why but I haven’t been to any places that will let me take pictures in the dress (other than David’s Bridal and I didn’t like any there). I have been to every local dress shop and several quite a way out of town. I am sick of being squished and clamped into dresses that don’t fit and then being expected to make a decision without pictures! I can barely remember which ones I liked by the time I leave!
I am leaning toward dress number 2 just by rereading this. I do not expect to find something perfect as I cannot remember ever feeling perfect in an outfit in at least 17 years. Do you guys think the little sleeves like in the last picture would be okay with it?

Can I suggest these two?
David’s Bridal Style 9WG9854 – I think the v neck will add some oomph to your chest, and the beading detail will give you a waist.
David’s Bridal Style SWG339 – I think the sweetheart neckline will add to your chest, and you can add some sleeves to cover your arms. And I feel like the skirt will help balance you out, and the flower will draw the eye up and create a waist!
