Husband and I have decided on a boys name but just can nooot decide on a girls name! (not actually pregnant yet, TTC in 4 months)
The name we picked for a boy is Emmett
now for a girl here are some names I am circling around…they are all almost there..but just not quite for various reasons.
Brynn -not long enough, seems like nickname
Brielle-same as above
Audrey-DH hates it
Emmerson-too close to Emmett
Bronte- too “gruff” sounding
I guess im hoping that you bees can look at the names I am halfway there on and find the missing link to make it a for sure..I have been pouring over baby name sites so I feel like I have seen everything. I also feel like all these names hover around the same feeling..not sure what it is though haha.

@MapleCreekBride: They all sound Irish, especially Emmett and Brynn. Is this something you were aiming for?

@MrsBee2B: Nope haha just happened I guess..maybe that’s a hint though that I should be looking into more Irish names!

Ava is a lovely name.
Aoife is also lovely, but not too obvious to pronounce (ee-fa)
Iona – this is one of my favourites.
All Irish and very pretty (IMO). Any that you like?

@MapleCreekBride: I feel the same way! I am ready with boys names but I just don’t like many girls names. Although I would happy with either I am secretly hoping it’s a boy. My mom already has 3 granddaughters it would be pretty cool to be the one to give her a grandson.

@MrsBee2B: mmm the only one I really like of those is Ava but it has the same issue of being too common and kind of nick-name-y
is Iona pronounced (ee-oh-na) or (eye-oh-na)?

@MapleCreekBride: I hear ya! I’m due in 5 weeks with a girl and no name yet.
When we got pregnant, we picked a boy name out easily and then struggled with girl names. At one point we said we weren’t going to waste our time looking for girl names until we found out what we were having. Well, of course we’re having a girl! Still no name. It’s a daunting task to be honest and we haven’t been looking too hard at this point either. Hopefully something comes to us soon! 🙂
Normally I’d say just wait to see if you even have a girl, but clearly that isn’t always the best idea!
What about Emory?

Check out this site:
You can plug in some of the “kind of right” names and it gives you common brother and sister names…so sort of like an “if you like x, then try y.” I plugged in Avery and got the above link.

@MapleCreekBride: I know an Iona and to them it’s eye-oh-na. I’m sure it can be pronounced the other way too. Ava is not common here at all 🙂 You’ll get there. x

I had my THIRD girl last year. We struggled so much with finding the right name for her. Een after we named her I wasn’t sure if it was right for about 2 weeks, not that I would have changed it but it took a while to get used too.
I really like nymbler, it puts in names you like and gives you suggestions on similar names!

Some of them you could add a syllable to:
Instead of Emmerson, what about Ellison? I always liked that one.

@MrsBee2B: Yeah I have time but I just feel like I have exhausted all options already! lol Thanks for the help though!

Yeah I’m due in 9 weeks and no girls name still.
The one we both like the best is Ella but I just can’t commit yet…and nothing has magically appeared as the “right” name.

@Bridey77: hmm those are circling too..I like Gabrielle, if only I could ensure people would nickname her Brielle instead of Gabby
I don’t mind Ellison but to me it seems like people would put it in the category of common name just mispelled (Allison)
Brynna…thats growing on me…is that an actual name or did you just add the “a” on your own? haha
