I am in Nursing school so I am unable to visit! So I have a couple of places in mind.
Mystere Mansion-which I can find no reviews on what-so-ever.
Did anyone else have to pick without seeing the venue?

@megandryan: Yes. We won’t be seeing the venue until the week of (it’s a harbour cruise too… probably should check for holes in the hull as soon as I get the chance :P)
You’ll be fine. Just do a lot of Google/Facebook research, or even ask them to send you pictures if you can’t find anything.
I searched for the church in Google images and it came up with photos from someone else’s wedding (a photographer’s online gallery). Great pics, and now I can actually visualise where we’ll be getting married. Enough evidence for me!

I picked my venue, the New Orleans Board of Trade, without seeing it. My mom did go to see the venue in person and I looked at several weddings shot there and read the reviews.
Can someone go check out the space for you? Do you have anyone local helping you plan that you really trust? I haven’t been to any of these venues, but many of the ones I considered had a funny layout that would not have worked for my wedding. It was helpful to have my super picky mom check them out on my behalf.

I picked Federal Ballroom without having seen it. My mom saw the venue the day she put the deposit down for us (I’m a NOLA native living in Atlanta and couldn’t get down there). Your best bet would be to call each venue and maybe request photos.

@megandryan: Yup, picked our venue without seeing it in person. Thankfully the hotel had a decent facebook page and website with pictures from past events. Plus my dad was able to physically see it and approved it 🙂
I would try googling the name of the venue with ‘wedding’ and go to the image section — maybe you will find a past wedding.
If you can’t find many pictures, for sure ask the venue itself to send you some pictures.

We will definitely have to pick our venue without visiting first. I’m so nervous but at least it seems to be fairly common.

@megandryan: We did! Worked out amazingly — We booked without seeing, bc our date would have been gone and we couldn’t see it in time. We had wanted very specific things, and this place had it all. Of course we saw pics/FB page/reviews, etc… And it met everything we wanted and looked great online. When we visited later in the year for our first site visit we were blown away. Everything we wanted and more! Just wanted you to know that it can absolutely work out for the best 🙂 Sending good vibes your way!
