Mine had me pick out my whole ring! He told me when we had to be done picking it out by, and then it came and he put it in the safe to “surprise” me with later.

My tip is just decide upfront before you start looking what you want to spend. We decided on a very modest budget because we want to move and start having children shortly after the wedding, and any extra money we spend now will chip away at our savings. Even though he bought it with his money, after the wedding it will be “our” money so we were careful to set what we thought was a reasonable budget before we started looking.

My BF surprised me by bringinto the the Jewlers building downtown. I had been sending him pictures of rings I liked for a few weeks but he wanted us to see things in person. I didn’t pick out a specific ring but tried on a few that I really liked in the style I narrowed down. I didn’t pick out “the” ring because I still want to be surprised and I want him to feel like he got to pick it out himself.

If he already purchased the ring it may be hard to go back and return it. I happen to love solitares and you can bling it up buy havyours diamond pave band as your wedding band.

before I went in to try rings on I was torn between a solitare with a pave band or a three stone. BF and both liked the “timeless” and “traditional” look of the solitare and ist what looked best on my finger. in the end i am glad I like that style best because I would rather the majority money go into a really nice center diamond than adornments.

good luck and hope you get your dream ring soon. (I’m still waiting for mine)

Also make sure to try on diamond sizes too. I always thought I wouldn’t want lower than a 2 carat and turns out a one carat well cut diamond looks quite large on my finger. It’s good to know what shape diamond looks best in your finger too. I originall wanted an oval burn round looked better.

@highschoolhoneys:  I think that ring is beautiful. I especially love it with that band. My advice would be to stop looking at other rings. I had to make myself because I would see something online and think “ooh I wish I had sent him this or that”
