I tell my FI “You eat this, or you make your own dinner”.

The cook gets to choose what`s on the menu. If you stop catering to him, he will likely start to expand his taste in food.

@risingsun:

Agreed, but I know that I succumb to what he wants  because it’s easy and I like fried cheesy things, lol.

OP- I find that I try to make a main meat that we’ll both enjoy, and if I feel like being all fancy with my veggies I’ll make my own side dish and offer him some.  He’s welcome to pop a Texas toast in the oven if he needs more starch in his life, but I’m not doing it for him.  Also, I made a very healthy butternut squash soup once and threw a single piece of bacon in the blender.  He asked me to make it every week, for the whole winter.  So, apparently that’s a veggie-based man-pleaser.  Let me know if you want the recipe.  Ooh, also, collard greens with bacon.

I did tell the FI that once we had kids, he was going to have to pretend to like vegetables b/c I don’t plan on answering the “But why doesn’t daddy have to eat his (veggies)?!?!”  He’s agreed. 🙂

Does he eat spaghetti? If so you can put in vegetables that have been pureed or chopped to bits including pumpkin puree and he will never know. Seriously look into healthy cookbooks for picky kids they have some great ideas.

Sit down and have a chat with him how his food choices need to “grow up”.  Honestly, heeeds to open up to eating green things if he expects to live a long, healthy life with you.

What did he do for dinner before you assumed this responsibility?

You have a right to have healthy dinners for yourself.

He has a right to cook if he doesn’t like what you put on the table.

@naturalysam:  when I make spaghetti, I reduce the amount of pasta I boil, and for the last minute of boiling time, I add in several handfuls of spinach to wilt it. It adheres to the noodles when I drain it, and you can’t taste it.

Also, I make a lot of green monster smoothies in the summer months, with frozen bananas and kale.

Jessica Seinfeld’s Deceptively Delicious is good.
