I was wondering if anyone has pics of themselves in Maggie Sottero's Milana dress? I purchased this dress and LOVE it. I am doing it strapless, no cap sleeves for me! I would like to see pics of anybody else that has this dress.

I absolutely love this dress but haven't tried it on yet. Did you get it in all white? Would you put some of your pictures of it on here? I would love to see it on a regular person and not just on a model haha

hi,  my daughter just bought this exact same dress this past weekend, also in gold.  we live in ft. lauderdale.  Our experience was not great, we bought the dress at a dress shop and then she found it on line and at another dress shop for 500 dollars less, not a good feeling.  Fortunately the dress shop met the price that we had found.

I love the look of the dress, how are you going to compliment it and can you let us know what style dresses your bridesmaids are wearing and will it coordinate.  Also, we would love to know what your flower choice will be.

Look forward to hearing from you.

So pretty! Have you tried looking on the Maggie website? They have a "Maggie Brides" section that features real brides in their gowns.

Hi dereksbride2be!  I just bought this dress today!  What kind of bustle are you going to use?

I am not sure what bustle yet, I am going to have it done the end of August.  The seamstress and I were chatting and we are going to have to figure out how to have a bustle but not cover up all the beading at the end of the train.  I love the dress and I can't wait to wear it, here is a pic of me in my actual dress with my veil.

Sounds good I will look for you in it.  I think all of us bees (well lots of us) have had the fear of ordering a dress and then not liking it when it comes in.  I was worried about that because it took my dress 5 months to come in but once I slipped it on and got all sucked in I fell in love with it all over again!  I will make sure to send you a pic of the dress on my wedding day!

Hey, That's my dress as well. When I tried on the sample we were talking about a double french bustle and it looked amazing. It was tucked up so that you could still see all the beading which is the best part of the dress!  Mine isn't scheduled to come in until January, but once I start fittings I'll post pics of the bustle that we decide to go with.

Thanks for such the sweet words!  I can't wait to wear it, only 58 days and I will have that baby on my body!  And I am so happy to see that there are quite a few of us bees who have the dress.  My dress shop said that they don't sell a lot of that dress because it is all lace and a lot of girls don't want all lace and I was that girl too! My consultant has an eye for what will look good on all of her brides and she pleaded with me to try it on and WOW well you know the rest of the story.

I have had such a hard time finding shoes for it because I ordered the petite dress so I wouldn't have to get it hemmed but my dilemma is that I can only have a 1/2-5/8 heel wich is basically nothing.  I have looked and looked and don't want to pay a fortune for the shoes because I can guarantee you I won't be wearing them again.

Girls post some pics of ya'll in your dresses when you can.

I got this dress too - in the champagne/gold.  What kind of shoes do you think you all are wearing and veil too?  I am stuck with my accessories!  My dress is in the store now so I can't wait to go and do my first fitting!!!  136 days :)

I am wearing these Nina Culver shoes, I needed a specific heel height and these fit the bill. Since my dress is in light gold, I'm wearing light gold shoes as well.

I think I am going to wear a chapel length lt. gold veil from veilshop.com here's their stock pic, the color would be different,

CryClover- I love those shoes, unfortunely I am cannot get heels that are any higher than 1'.   I am having the hardest time with this.  I think I have decided to get some plain satin shoes and then a girl who has made a ton of stuff on etsy for me is going to make some simple shoe clips.  I got the petite size but I am 5'6 so my consultant said that the length would be almost perfect and I wouldn't have to hem it, which will save a ton of money as you know. I am going to get the bustle done next week and I am going to get whatever bustle lets the tulle and lace show the most.

My vail is a Erica Koesler which is in the champagne color with a few rhinestones scattered on it.  I wore a chapel length veil at my first wedding which was great but my wedding was inside. This time I am getting married outside and it could be windy so with the fingertip veil there will be less to fly around.   :)

Do any of you girls have pics of ya'll in your dresses?

I love this dress! I just ordered it last month. This was my favorite dress by far. Does anyone else who got this dress know what they are going to do about jewelry? I don't think I want anything too extreme since there is the beeding on the bodice. Any ideas?

Jeloyer - I'm thinking that with the amount of beading on the bodice, I am going to go with some dramatic earrings and a bracelet only...no necklace.

I JUST got home from the bridal boutique and purchased this dress. It has the WOW factor i wanted with a vintage vibe with the lace and a little poof for mom. lol. I went for the champagne and gold colored style, which also has a bit of silver accenting throughtout the beading. I really felt it went well with my olive skin color. However, i DID NOT take pics in order to avoid the Fiance from accidently viewing it. Also, I was in a much larger size and it didnt fit as it will. I am SO happy. I get to pick it up next week. My wedding is in June. I have decided to do something a bit different with the sleeves .... :)

We are doing oasis and pool for the girls with knee length dresses. And i had planned on doing silver heels for them. Does anybody feel like this would clash?? The saleswoman was very sweet and even had the oasis and pool colored bridesmaid dresses which she held up to the dress. It looked alright and both she and my mother agreed that everything doesn't have to be matchy matchy. I am just worried i will not like the turn out. I may actually change the bridesmaid colors. The girls and I are going next week. I must sound crazy to be doing this all exactly 5 months before the wedding date.

    GOOD LUCK LADIES!!! :)

I love Milana - I'm trying to decide if I want to add some more tulle under the gown to make it "pouf" more at the bottom. Or, if with alterations we'll get it tight enough to get it to look like how it does on the model. Mine is diamond white with pewter. And I'm going with a plain finger-tip veil. And a standard bustle so I dont' lose the beading on the bottom (that's what my alterations specialist recommended). 3 more months and then I can schedule my fittings!

I'm also wearing the cap sleeves for the ceremony and pictures. Then removing them so I can get down and boogie on the dance floor.

@goldilocks i added more tulle to front n back underneath, not sides it causes "poofing" on the sides once bustled. the additional tulle makes it so much prettier!! i am so happy.

also, i had the seamstress take some of the back piece out to allow the corset to show off, not the entire back just a little back, really makes it special, i HIGHLY suggest it to you all if u havn't been married yet!!

also, i dont know if this happened to anyone else but i got two left cap sleeves, not one for each arm, im really pissed ...

@DanicaCherise - Thanks for the info! I'm definitely having tulle added for the "poufy" factor. The seamstress even said she'd have it added before I come in for my first fitting so we can see how it all looks when everything else gets adjusted.

Please post/send photos after your wedding so I can see how it all turned out!

Goldilocks, I am sure your Milana will come in before mine and you will have your dress altered before mine.

I am also thinking of having it taken in at the butt just a little bit so it would be a bit more fit and flare in addition to adding the tulle, but I have not spoken to a seamstress since I just ordered it yesterday.

But please do post pics when you get your final fitting.  I am dying to see it with the fit as it does on the model!

I am wearing the Milana as well!! I would definately recommend doing something to add more flare to the bottom but check on alteration prices before you pay big bucks for it because david's bridal sells a fit and flare slip for only $49!

I had already tried posting this so for just in case my other one shows up I am sorry!  I am wearing the Milana as well! I just wanted to suggest that those of you who would like to add more volume to the bottom (which I totally agree with) to check first on how much alterations would cost because they do have fit and flare slips.  There is one from David's Bridal for only $49 here is the link

YAY, a Milana thread! I just bought the dress Saturday, and I've been going back and forth between excitement and buyer's regret...it makes me feel better to see that so many other girls loved this dress too! It's got such a different bottom, I've been wondering if it's a little too different....but all of yours' look lovely, so I'm reassured.

Here's a few pictures to contribute of me in the sample; mine won't be in for four months. It's wayyy too long here, so I ordered it in the petite length also. I'm going to have the neckline lowered and made into a sweetheart-ish line. I'm also down-sizing the capsleeves to how they are in the pic, except with the drippy lace on the outside, not tucked under like I have them.

Would also LOVE to see any pics of bustles you girls have...that's one thing I didn't talk about with my consultant and I should have.

@cb4690:  Wow!  We are date twins and dress twins!  I think the dress looks super fab on you!  I like what you're doing to the cap sleeves, because you're right, they are a little big compared to the model.  I was also thinking of lowering the neckline but didn't know if it could be done, since the front is boning...if I remember correctly (my dress hasn't come in yet)?  In the pics you posted, is the neckline altered?  I take it that this is the sample dress..?  Are you planning to add crinoline to puff it out a little more?  I have also considered lowering the back of the dress to give it more of a V shape, but I haven't talked about any of my plans to the seamstress since she wasn't there when I bought my dress.

I am like you.  I have had dress regret, but I know that once the dress is tailored to me, it's going to be perfect for me!

    Good luck!

    @jackie_t4701:

Wow, no kidding! :) That's crazy!

Thanks for the kind words! The neckline isn't altered in the pic, that's just the sample...but I saw it done on the Maggie Sottero website, so I assume it can be done.  http://www.maggiesottero.com/viewBride.aspx?Id=9126&backUrl=%2fdress.aspx%3fkeywordText%3dmilana%26keywordType%3dany%26page%3d0%26pageSize%3d15%26style%3dS5221CS

I'm not adding a puff to the bottom; I'm actually a no-poof kind of girl as it is, so the fullness of the bottom is more than enough for me! And I would have liked a lower back also, but I think I'm just going to remove half the piece behind the corset and let some of my back show through. I think it'll give the illusion of a lower back without messing up any of the work on the back. I think one of the ladies on this thread gave me the idea, actually. But if you can lower the back, it will be gorgeous I'm sure.

Good luck to you as well! We're both getting our stuff in order fairly early thank goodness!

do a french bustle...it is the only way to showcase all the beadwork on the dress. also have your seamstress add a few hidden hooks as the bottom of the dress gets very heavy.

also i had the back paneling taken out. it adds some sexiness to the back of the dress.

when you receive your dress check the sleeves, i got 2 left sleeves

also, add tulle to the bottom..only in the front n back to add ooomph. if u had it to the sides it looks stupid once its bustled.

heres me on the website :)

I have a fitting today, so I'm definitley added more pouf to the bottom. I'd like it to be as full is it is in the stock photo. I'm not doing a french bustle. I didnt love the way it looked, so Im going with the standard american bustle.
