Over the summer my mom flew down to where my sister lives and my stepmom met up with us as well to dress shop. We had a lovely time at the boutique we went to and I really did like this dress. Before I ever went shopping, I had been *HEARTS IN MY EYES*ing over Mori Lee 5108, but never had the opportunity to try it on. Now I keep seeing real life brides in it and i’m having regrets.
Where I live now, there are 2 stores that seem to carry this dress. Would I be a fool to go try it? Scenario 1: The dress doesn’t fit me as I’d envisioned and doesn’t wow me. Scenario 2: I find it is, afterall, my dream dress and want to switch.
Here is my dress. I’m not sure I’m crazy about the fit, afterall 🙁
And here is the Mori Lee dress I’ve drooled over since I got engaged:

I like the less dramatic mermaid cut of the first dress. As for the bodices, it’s like comparing apples and lamp shades. You look gorgeous in the one you got, but it’s a ton of detail and the dim lighting isn’t exactly doing it justice.

@BeeLadylike: I love the dress you currently have! The other dress is really nothing like it at all, although equally beautiful.
I would try on the other just to squash doubt, but if you end up loving the other one, get it.
You only get married once!

If it helps, here is a picture that shows the detail of the bodice a little better. It looks a little funny because the straps it originally comes with are folded under.

Holy Moly. That Allure dress is drool worthy on you! So jealous!!
The other is nothing compared to the one you have!!
I had major dress regret and drooled over a mori lee.. Wound up not trying it on because I couldn’t have afforded it even if it was better. But I’m glad I didn’t. 🙂

@BeeLadylike: I’m a sucker for buttons like that. Winner winner chicken dinner.

Thanks for your thoughts and sweet comments ladies!
The Mr. told me to “put on my big girl panties” and keep the original and stay away from Mori Lee. My sister told me to go try it so I know what will truly make me happy. LOL

So I saw your dress and went “Holy shit it’s gorgeous!!” And then I saw the Mori Lee and couldon’t muster much more than an “eh”.
Your dress is so much more “wow!” And gorgeous. You’re crazy girl, but you’re lucky to have the amazing dress. Stick with it!

@Tphan: Thank you so much! I feel like your post slapped some sense into me. I really thought everyone would say the ML is better, but maybe I just built it up so much in my head from before. I have to remind myself how much I didn’t want to take this one off!
I appreciate your sweet words and advice!

I’m another fan of the Allure over the Mori Lee!
I loveeeee the detail and all the lace/beading on the Allure.
Whilst the Mori Lee is gorgeous, it has nothing on the Allure in my opinion!

Allure for the win! Way more bridal in my opinion.

The Allure looks absolutely amazing! Do you mind sharing which dress it is?
I think its really up to you if you want to try on the Mori Lee. As long as you have the budget to buy it if you end up loving it, why not? But I honestly can’t imagine it looking better than that Allure. The beading is gorgeous, and even the sample fits you beautifully.

Honestly your dress is stunning and I think the Mori Lee is a bit plain. It’s pretty but nothing special.
Your Allure dress looks so fabuous on you!

I think you look stunning! But if you want to try on the other to be sure, you should do it. I do think that if you decide on the Allure your mother (or MIL) in the first picture should not be as blinged out as you. She should wear something more simple because her dress takes away from your gorgeous gown and is very distracting in the picture.

@BeeLadylike: YOu look gorgeous in the Allure!!
I had this Mori Lee on my list to try on, I didn’t try this exact one, but many very similar. I really thought I wanted a plain dress with not a lot of fuss. I tried on one super blingy dress and fell in love. After that, all the plain ones I tried on just paled in comparison. This was just my experience but just thought I’d share.
The other thing I’d mention, is that based on your body I think the allure will be more flattering. YOu don’t have anything to hide, so I think the ruching on the mori lee may not be as flattering, like it might look like you’re trying to hide something. Again, this was just my experience when I tried on dresses with ruching
