No, I don't think the extra cost is justified. : (25 votes)

Yes, I would pay extra for the Amora at any size, not just more than a carat. : (49 votes)

Depends on size. I have a 1.25 ct unenhanced and I can definitely see warmth, but I personally really like it. I haven’t seen an amora though, so I don’t know how pronounced the difference is.

The bottom picture is of my ring before I cleaned it. It is a 1ct unenhanced moissy

The earrings are 5.5mm (1.33cttw) martini studs, un-enhanced, the 7.5mm (1.5ct) OEC stone has the Amora treatment . Except for mellee stones, I’d go with the Amora enhancement unless you have the ability to pick through un-enhanced ones to ensure you get a good one, or have a trusted seller willing to hand pick. Non-enhanced can absoloutely be gorgeous and bright and white, some, not so much. If lack of green/gray/yellow is important to you, I think Amora is worth it.

    They’re both 1 carat.

The one on the left (bottom in the first pic) is amora ^_^ The unenhanced moissanite is also cut to diamond proportions, so it is cut too deeply.

Unenhanced, 1.25 carat. Pictures don’t do it justice. I’m glad I didn’t get it enhanced. I apologize for the enormous pics in advance :p

1 carat unenhanced. Enhancement wasn’t even an option when I got mine 2.5 years ago. Agreed that photos cannot capture how gorgeous it looks. It really picks up the color of things around it, and in the second picture you can see it looks black because it’s picking up my camera, whereas in the first picture it’s reflecting the sky:

There is no option for other enhanced moissanite like Forever Brilliant 🙂

I have a Forever Brilliant pear and unenhanced round cut moissanite. The unenhanced round seems a lot warmer than the enhanced pear (even though pears normally have more body colour). Side by side the pear photographs much whiter than the round. Of course, they are two different cuts but I expected them to look similar since the pear looked so yellow unenhanced.

@bunnyharriet:  I think that’s what it boils down to. I’ve seen some rather yellow Amora, and some stunningly white unenhanced. So long as you tell the seller you want the whitest stone available, and they have a good return policy, I’d rather take the gamble on an unenhanced than pay extra for a treatment that may or may not result in a huge difference.

This thread on the Better Than Diamond Forum gives a great example of this. Someone has an unenhanced 8mm OEC moissy and an Amora 9mm OEC moissy. I can’t tell which is which to be honest, and neither can most women. OEC is one of the cuts that shows the most color. Glad I didn’t pay extra for that!

I think it depends on how recently the moissanite was made, and if the company you buy it from hand selects the best from the batches (I’m getting mine from MoissaniteCo, and I think they do this, so their stones are pretty consistent).

Here is a video of a 8.5mm unenhanced round brilliant moissanite:

This thread (http://betterthandiamond.com/discussion/ubbthreads.php/topics/774987/6) has some awesome pictures of a 9mm unenhanced OEC moissanite.
