I wouldn’t do the bios, because your extended family likely won’t care about where your bridesmaid grew up at or what her favorite flower is. Or, they’ll care a ton and they’ll start standing around the table to read them, creating a human traffic jam :).

I think the family wedding pictures table sounds wonderful. That way your relatives will all feel more involved since it will be photos of their family too.

Why don’t you do a combo?  Have pictures of you growing up combined with pictures with family and friends.  In my experience, people love seeing kid pictures of the bride and groom, as well as pictures that include themselves.

I think the bios in the program will be great because people can read it if they get there early or at the comfort of their table or when they get home :).

My friend has a collection of old wedding photos in her guest bathroom, and I love looking at them. It’s just so cool to see weddings from different time periods.

We found as many wedding pictures of old relatives (grandparents, parents, etc) as we could and displayed them at our reception.  I loved having them be a part of the wedding, even if it wasn’t in person.  My only suggestion would be to somehow label the photos so people know who they’re looking at.  I thought about that after it was too late and think many people probably had no idea that they were old family photos.
