Oh I'm so glad you asked this! My photographer told me about a couple she took engagement pictures for right after she took ours and it is in downtown San Jose. They are some awesome pictures and these are only the teasers: http://sreid13.wordpress.com/2008/07/28/jennifer-stuart-engagement-portraits-san-jose/
She went to city hall, monopoly in the park (http://www.monopolyinthepark.com/location.htm), and a few places just around there. I plan on heading that way on my wedding day for photos.
Thanks I hadn't even thought of Monopoly in the park that could be really fun especially with the entire bridal party. City Hall is great also, such an amazing building.
We're taking our pictures at the Japanese Friendship Gardens in Kelley Park:

You do need a permit for wedding photography, which you can get from the city, but you must apply for it IN PERSON at Kelley Park. It cost $70 for two hours.
The odds are they might or might not check the permit, however, on a Saturday, it's guaranteed to be busy, and there may be weddings going on there.
If you're asking for a photo permit, SPECIFY photo permit. I sent my youngest, non wedding savvy brother and at first he came back with a wedding ceremony permit, and I had to send him back with exact instructions, pricing, and how long of an application.

Does anyone know any good places to take pictures near San Jose (specifically East Side or Evergreen) my cousin is getting married in Sept and we are trying to think of some nice places but Alum Rock Park isn't what it used to be. I am not sure if she has anything specific in mind (architectural or park setting). So more ideas the better.
Thanks Hive
