My wedding was on 1/16/10 and even we signed a contract that promised our pictures would be done within 4-6 weeks.  It's now the 8th week.  All my photog could say was sorry and that he would "rush through them."  I feel uncomfortable with the "rush through" them part as the contract did say 6 weeks at most and at 8 weeks, I expect pictures to be spectacular and no need to "rush."

I'm not sure what else I should say to him.  As part of our package , we also get a printed album, but it requires us to see the proofs first which is still not finished.  I'm not happy with the proof turnaround time, and I'm worried that our experience with getting the proofs submitted for printing wont be nice either.

The photog was favorably reviewed on weddingwire and well organized which is why we hired him. I'm trying to decide whether or not (and how) to ask for compensation for the prolong wait time.  Is that worth it?  How much longer should I wait? What should I say to him next?

Sorry, we are having similar issues with our photographer and wedding is not even here yet....we can't request a refund because its too late and technically they haven't breached the contract. But simple emails take up to 2 weeks for a response and I have been alarmed by other brides that they're photos are weeks/months behind. We don't have the funds to hire a new photographer either.....I feel your pain!

I would suggest telling him that you want your pictures by X date or you are going to file a claim with the BBB.  Even if he isn't a member, they still will be a go between in disputes.  If that doesn't work, you might want to go to small claims court.
