I’m looking at Pier Sixty at Chelsea Piers for my wedding reception. Has anyone had their reception there or been to a wedding there? I’ve heard good things about Abigail Kirsch in general. Does anyone have some insider experience/advice/recommendations to share before I book the venue? Thank you!

Mrs. Canary got married there! You can see her writeup of her first visit there here:

I looked at several Abigail Kirsch venues and have been to a wedding they catered. The food was some of the best wedding food I had. Everything seemed to run really smoothly. The downside to AK is they appear somewhat inflexible compared to some other venues, with high costs PP and minimum number of guests. But maybe things have changed since the economy, especially in NYC, has nose dived….

I wholeheartedly recommend Pier Sixty to anyone considering getting married in New York. Although the PP cost may seem high, if you do an apples to apples comparison with other similar NYC venues, you are getting a lot more for your money.
My one gripe was that it was a bit difficult to get a hold of the staff during peak wedding season (i.e. May and June), but the week of our wedding, we were in consistent contact, and on the day of everything went smoothly.
My guests still tell me (six months after the fact) what a great time they had at our wedding and what amazing service they received.
The AK staff does considers everything and works within your budget.
