So there is a pilates rower in my basement. I didn’t buy it, it was left by a relative of FI’s. Everything in the basement is now ours…so we can either sell the stuff or use it. Most of it was donated, but this rower has been a sticking point for me. They are pretty pricey….so I”m not sure what to do with it.
I never did pilates before but I do enjoy yoga, and I was a gymnast for most of my life so I’m pretty flexible…I’m thinking I might like to try pilates, and I figured I’d set it up and give it an honest try before deciding whether or not to sell the machine.
My question is, do any of you know of a good dvd workout for a pilates rower machine? I dont want to cart this thing to a class, or have to pay for a class if I can just find a good DVD to show me the basics. I tried looking on amazon but didn’t find anything?

I don’t know about a DVD, but LiveStrong has a step-by-step guide to using the rower here and some basic exercises here.

If you are talking about the Reformer (which you most likely are), I would seriously consider proper training before getting on it. As a Pilates instructor, I had to go through intensive training and 450 hours of hands-on-experience before getting my certification through the Pilates Method Alliance. There are many ways you can hurt yourself on it without proper understanding of Pilates and knowing how the Reformer works.
You should at least meet with an instructor a few times before trying to do any of the exercises on your own.

@abbie017: gah apparently I can’t use Google very well! Thanks for those 🙂
@funfunfun: I have NO idea what type of machine it is. You probably are right, if that is a typical home model. There is a pilates studio near my house, I was thinking of asking someone to come and show me how to use it…do you think someone would do that? I’d go to the studio but their machines are so much different, judging by the pictures.
