Has anyone noticed this? Some phottos have a Pin-It button if you hover over them now, while others don’t. Is it because of the size of the photo or something? It’s kind of a cool feature, I guess. Thoughts?

I just noticed this earlier in a ring thread that I posted my ring to and I asked about it. A lot of other bees were noticing it too. Personally I don’t love it. I think it’s a little weird for someone to press Pin It on a picture of my ring and for my ring to show up in someone’s Pinterest account when I don’t even have Pinterest.

@star_dust: Yeah, it kind of squicks me out that the close up of my dress (essentially my boobs, haha) is so easily pinned now, but then again, I guess it was always possible for people to pin things. Still…weird.

I haven’t noticed it yet
Personally, I don’t have a problem with it since anyone can save pictures you post to their computer and do whatever they want with it. And even without the pin it button, I’m sure people were pinning pictures from the boards.

@jo.lee: True. I’m not really sure how Pinterest works but I guess if anyone can take any picture they want and pin it and I’m publicly posting pictures, then anyone could take my image. Eventually I’ll delete all these weddingbee photos anyway. For now it’s fun.

Yeah, this concerns me a little.
If I did decide to post any personal photos, I wouldn’t want them to show up on pinterest…and then possibly get pinned over and over and over again. Then again, any photos you place on here are pretty much up for grabs on the great google image search anyways. Pinterest just makes it easier to share / pin. lol.
I understand the need for social media integration and getting more hits, more money from sales, etc. But I hope they decide to 1) make it opt-in, or 2) restrict it to a few select sections or…classifieds only, maybe?

No, I haven’t noticed this. I’ll keep my eye out though!
ETA: Ventured over to a dress thread with pictures and saw it. Unfortunately, a pin it button or not will not stop another user from downloading your picture to upload onto Pinterest or any other site for that matter. There have been plenty of girls who have told others they see their wedding pictures or other images on the website. This is another reason we all have to be careful as to what we post!

I haven’t noticed it, but there’s the pin it add on for the toolbar that let’s you pin from pretty much anywhere anyway!

I have a “pin it” button on my toolbar that allows me to pin pretty much any picture from any site. If you are concerned about your photos being pinned, I’d either ask people if they could refrain from pinning them, or just not post them in the first place. Otherwise, you can’t really stop people.

I noticed the Pin It button earlier on some pictures, but I have a pin widget on my browser, so it’s superfluous, really.

@peachacid: this. you can’t put anything online without running the risk somebody else will snag it and use it.

Same here. The thing directly on the photos is just an extra method over what has been available for a while.

any way to remove it? I don’t use Pinterest and the little sign is getting annoying.
