Good Morning Ladies,
I have never posted before…but I need your opinion. My fiance really wants to wear a black pin stripe tux. He wants the groomsmen to wear them also. There are 3 reasons why I don’t favor this black pin stripe suit 1) We have some rather large groomsmen and I don’t know if the stripes will flatter their size…the stripes may not fall straight 2) The grey stripe running through the suit throws me off a bit (I feel like it is another color that doesn’t blend well) 3) I think that a solid black tux is ‘classy’ and ‘classic’ and ‘smooth’. The Pin stripes remind me of Beatle Juice (you know the main character always wore stripes). By the way the bridesmaids are wearing a rich orange color. I don’t want him to think that he has no say in what he is going to wear but Lord please….No pin stripes! What are your thoughts? Will the black pinstripe suit look good?

I think it depends on the fabric. If it’s a subtle stripe, it could be incredibly timeless and classy. Pin stripes are verrrrry flattering on larger frames, since vertical lines have a slimming effect. I am not a fan of a stripe that’s a stark constrast, but it could look really rich if done well.
Try it and see!

I’m with Mermaid on this – I think that if it’s a subtle stripe it could look quite nice!

My fiance suggested the same thing- how funny! At first, I was unsure. The guys are wearing brown tuxes, but when he showed me the one with pin stripes (they are tiny grey stripes) I actually loved it! Here are some pics from the tux shop. Hope you can see them. Definitely try it on, and let the groomsmen try it on first before making any final decisions!

I love pinstripes. My FH has a big frame & stripes look awesome on him. I especially love the brown suits with stripes, which I wanted since we are having a vintage theme wedding ( Miami/Havana) FH had suit made in brown with light blue pin stripes & it looks awesome & is our wedding color – but too dark – so we are getting his brown tux at Men’s Warehouse.
Stripes look classy – and flattering on bigger guys.

I like a subtle pinstripe in a suit. I believe, according to Clinton and Stacey on What Not to Wear, that pinstripes can be treated like a neutral fashion-wise.

My Fiance also wants to do the black pinstripe suit as well. I had second thoughts about it but i think in the end it will look great. Specially on him
