That style is actually really popular where I’m from! I love it!

Love Pin up, but not many people do it right IMO.  It requires a specialized wardrobe, makeup and hair done the right way, a lot of props, and the right photoshop talent.  My favorite pinup photographer is Alvardo, he is among the best in the business.

Check out his portfolio, maybe you can work out a shoot with him……that would be awesome.

That’s what I did for mine! I have a very curvy pin-up style body, plus I love the era and slightly obsessed with Betty Paige.  I took some standard boudoir photos prior to getting all dolled up pinup style. I contacted a photographer that had a few pin-up style photos on-line and she was able to arrange the entire thing. Hair, make-up, and location.  So if you can find someone who does do it in your area lean on them for help as they more than likely have tons of contacts.

I agree with User…it’s a different style of photography and you have to have the right people or it will just look like you are ironing clothes in his button down shirt. I use to model for pin ups and I always heard the makeup artist say, “The key to great pinup photos is to take everything off and paint it back on.” Meaning making your eyebrows as thin as possible or completely waxing them off so you get get them painted on. Your foundation is caked on. Your lips are painted red and outlined. Then you have to have the right wardrobe like pointy bras and high underwear. There were no thongs or bikini cuts back then.

The guy I was doing it fo quit photography when his wife died of cancer. He just lost the passion for it. He was teaching at the art school for a little bit, but I don’t even think he’s doing that anymore.

But if you can find a photographer who has the skill and team to do it, then go for it!

User is right, Alvarado is a modern day Vargas.  Definitely check him out.
