Hello Ladies –
I need some advice about placeholders. We are getting married in August at an outdoor venue called the Cathedral of the Pines which as you can imagine is surrounded by pine trees. Our reception is at a different site and I am thinking about using pinecones for placeholders at the reception as a nod to the ceremony site. Do pinecones seem too wintry for decor?
Thanks for your help!

I say do whatever makes you happy. I am choosing colors that could be seen as fall or wintery for a summer wedding, but oh well. Your guests won’t be knitpicking or anything.

@ms_kitty: Seems perfect for your venue.
You could always spray paint them one of your colors

I think your placeholders sound perfect. The only thing that would make me think they were wintery was if they were painted in white or glitter.

Thanks everyone! I’m feeling a little better about my pinecones hahaha

Don’t worry about it. Tons of people have flowers that are technically out of season. I think your pinecones sound beautiful, especially considering the ceremony site.

@ms_kitty: At first I was gonna say no, but when I read about your venue and atmosphere, totally makes sense! I’d do it!

@ms_kitty: I think it’s ok especially given the name of your venue!
As pp mentioned maybe paint them.
I think this is a pic from the same table and it certainly looks more summery given the color they are painted and the ligter color linens
