table runners? possibly striped or a print?
I think one way to make sure it doesnt look washed out is to use different textures and finishes.
If you are using silver satin overlays, what color tablecloth are you using underneath it? Maybe you can get a lightly patterned light pink to go underneath? and matching napkins. If you tie the napkins up with something, it will add even more fun textures.
What kind of vase will your flowers be in? If you use something that you can tie a ribbon around or something that is tall it will add interest. Maybe put a few dark pink flowers with the light pink. Just enough to add depth.

Are you already locked into the silver overylays?
What are your chairs like? Can you add dark pink or charcoal sashes or something for more color.
I'd definitely mix in darker pink for depth. How tall are your centerpieces? If you got with some taller items it'll help "fill the room" as you always hear on wedding shows.
Here's some inspiration:

Thanks for the advice =) I'm not "locked" into the silver overlays, but they're the only ones available to us at this point. What would you guys recommend between satin and organza?
Our hall is providing white linen for tables and white chair covers, so we are starting off with a very white room.
I don't think it will look washed out at all. I think it will be soft and elegant.
I love the look of the organza overlays.
Like the pp's, I suggest variety in color, texture and height- but that applies to all decor, not just your wedding. It gives visual interest.
I agreee that the white tablecloths and chair covers can sometimes present a "sea" of white, but your overlays will breal that up.
where did you find that dark gray overlay? they're just what i want for the wedding?
thanks, luccajul@aol.com
A couple I'm using for my own inspiration..I think textures add a lot and varying shades of pink will add depth!

Those are my colors too!!!
Im having charcoal grey linens, with white lace overlays & milk glass vases with light pink flowers (hydrangeas, garden roses & peonies) & silver chiavari chairs! :]
Ignore the centerpiece in the middle :]

my centerpieces will look something like this
but with white milk glass vases

half of the tables will be with this look,

and the other half will have a more gathered look with different vases.

:]
here is the inspirational board I created !
:]

Hope that help!! & i would love to see your plans & ideas! I don't find many brides with our colors! :]
besides milk glass, try vintage pink pottery - it's availabe at thrift stores everywhere and really "warms" up the grey - here's a mccoy vase:
@cubaneli: I love your inspirational board! This is exactly what I am wanting for my April 2012 wedding. I am curious about your charcoal tablecloths. Are you renting? The rental prices I have been finding are so high! Thanks!

We are having a pink and grey (blush and pewter) wedding, but we're stuck on the reception decor. Our hall is mostly white, and I'm afraid that everything will look washed out with the silver satin overlays and light pink flowers that we are adding. Any tips on how to liven it up a bit? We're open to many shades of pink, and any shade of "grey" between silver and charcoal. Pictures would be appreciated =)
