  • Wedding: October 2013 - A Beautiful converted Barn

ngagedRN: its easy to do – i was all over pinterest for my wedding and started to feel like my day was inadequate compared to the pics on there…. make yourself a private board and pin all the fab things about your day to it – take pics of all your stationary, dress, heels… everything – and pin it to your board. then you can look at it and see just how awesome it is! (i did and it made me feel MUCH better!) then once your day is over you can make it public if you wanted to so your beautiful wedding is on pinterest for everyone else to ooogle over!xx

I totally get the same feeling as you. Not just from Pinterest but Etsy also. I see so many beautiful things and beautiful brides/models in their gorgeous dresses and it does make me feel like I’m not going to be a beautiful bride or have a nice wedding. Being unemployed definitely doesn’t help the situation, since I have nothing else to keep me occupied except wedding planning. I have a FI/self-imposed ban on shows like SYTTD so I don’t start getting dress regret.

Hearing nice comments about our (DIY) invitations makes me feel proud at least of one thing we have done, and I’m sure I will feel even better on the day when everything comes together. My FMIL is also very kind and supportive (which kinda makes up for the lack of enthusiasm from my own family). I do have Pinterest and etsy to thank for various ideas we’ve chosen to incorporate into our wedding, and I know if we did all the cool things that I’ve seen online it would look like a terrible mashup of things gone wrong. So I focus on the projects I have chosen and trust that it will turn out well in the end.

I’m not getting married for over a year yet but I’ve seen loads of brides who feel the same way you do. Just remember that everything you see onPinterest  didn’t come from one big fantastic wedding, it would be OTT if it did. You have planned a wedding that is tailor made for you and your FI and for that reason it’ll be perfect. I would even consider deleting your wedding board now that your day is here so you don’t end up comparing them, it’ll just take away from your day.

I decided to stop looking at pinterest these last couple of weeks. I am getting married in 2 weeks from tomorrow and am struggling to finish all the projects I did decide on.  I simply don’t have time to add on any more projects so it would be very dangerous for me to keep looking at pinterest boards.  Not to mention I’m already over budget lol.  I’m trying to keep my eye on the prize at this point – finishing my to-do list and marrying that man of mine 🙂

I’m pretty minimalist, so there aren’t many things on pinterest that inspire me to do or wish to do similar things. It’s just fun to look at them online.
