@miss.skinner: My FI suggests avonworth community park's mayernik center. I will attach the link at the end of this message. This location is gorgeous. It has a log cabin like feel to it and is pretty affordable. We are having a fall wedding next September. We are having our reception at the great hall. There is no hall rental fee, and the food prices are excellent! I am so excited about our location. It is affordable and I personally love the unique style to it. I will include that link too. Either way, the catering we're using is Remo's and I believe that is a recommended caterer for both of the aforementioned locations. Their food is really good :-). There are picutres of both locations on the websites. I hope this helps :-).
We just got married at Mellon Park in the City with our reception at the Forest Hills/Westinghouse Lodge. It's all park setting and the lodge is super cheap to rent plus you get to hire your own caterer. We went for a local BBQ place and did everything for well under 10K. I still have to determine what our exact costs were but food and hall was under $5K. We planned for 250 but only had ~160.
There's also North Park around Wexford/Pine Richland. They have a number of grove rentals and the Lodge or the Rose Barn. (link below) I do know that the Rose Barn is $250 to rent and the Lodge is $300. They look sort of plain from the outside, but I've seen indoor pics and with decorations they were beautiful! North Park is a really gorgeous place too. Good luck to them :)
This is a little off the beaten path but what about a campground... I know that Seneca Hills in Franklin has a beautiful reception area and a nice size chapel! Franklin is about an hour north of Cranberry township. Seneca Hills is a beautiful non-denominational camp!
Try South Park or Northpark. If you want to go a little outside the city, we are having ours at Hartwood Acres/Manor. It's so beautiful out there.
Look into Betsy's Barn which located on CHeeseman's Farm. It is great for an outdoorsy/rustic type wedding and it's really affordable.

I am having my wedding at the Mayernik and it unless you made significant cuts in everything else, you would not be able to get 250-300 people on that budget.
I have friends that just got married at the boat house in North Park and did a really nice BBQ for $12-13/pp.
We are getting married at south park in one of the buildings and it only costs $300 (plus a $50 fee for alchol) I believe it is $150 for a grove and you could use any caterer (we are using armstrongs resturant and their prices range from $8-$14 pp.
hope this helps

Although I am now a happy newlywed, my older brother and his girlfriend recently got engaged. I am so happy for them but I know they are stressed about finding a wedding location in their budget. I no longer live in Pittsburgh so I'm not around to really do reserach for them. I know they are looking at a large wedding probobly around 250-300 people and do not have a very large budget. Maybe $10-15,000 max? They want a fall wedding and they are both very outdoorsy people so I can totally see them in a farm/garden type environment getting married. I have googled places but I don't want to suggest a place if it is totally out of their price range.
Any ideas bees? I know they are getting stressed already. I would love to be able to help them in any way I can.
Thanks again. You ladies are the best.
