Ugh…I’m so frustrated ladies!
I got my paralegal degree almost 2 years ago and I’ve gone on so many interviews, signed up with temp agencies, sent out so many resumes, tried to network as much as a can and nothing. So even though my job is at a law firm, it’s a contract position and I work for another company. I like it, but it’s not utilizing my skill set at all. I archive old files, etc.
So… last week I meet up with one of bridesmaids. She’s a teacher and has been out of work for quite awhile, and has really been looking everywhere for work and she tells me that she has a interview at a law firm for a reception/file clerk position. which is basically the job that I need to get my career started. Yesterday she got called back for a second interview.
She got the job.
I’m so frustrated. I’ve been working in the law environment for almost 5 years and I can’t even get a receptionist position and I’ve done reception before!!! She gets this job with NO experience. at. all. Plus, the place that I’m currently working is doing a big shift and it will probably leave the reception position open, so I have the HR person my resume and he told me today that plans are on hold but that they’ll probably just hire a very part time clerk. 🙁
Party over, going to burn my frustration off in the gym.

don’t give up! Keep your eyes open, I went through this simliar thing 6 years ago. I had a degree in Medical Admin. Assisting. I couldn’t find ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!
I eventually needed to feed my kids, so ended up working in a day care for about 6 years, hmmmm. 6 is coming up here too much, anyways – my mother looked in the paper every day (cuz I basically gave up) but she found a position that fitted what I wanted, told me to fax my resume that day, and I GOT IT. I have been there for 5 years now (not 6 lol). Just keep on keepin on, and eventually life works out.

I’m sorry. It’s super frustrating right now.
I’ve had my certificate for a year and a half now and have been on interviews, have gotten jobs where I ended up getting screwed over, and just recently got a job in my field, where I’m away from home for weeks at a time. It’s not ideal but it’s a start. The point is, I promise it’s going to work out. And even if you’re not working in your “area”, try to develop personal skills that will take you through life.

There’s really only one thing to say – That sucks.
I do believe that everything happens for a reason and since it seems like you’ve hit your bottom, you can only go up from here!

Thanks again Ladies! On the bright side, my very dear friend did get a job, which she needs because she too is getting married, in January!
Plus, as FI put it, maybe if she gets a teaching job sooner rather than later, she might recommend me for the position. Love him, always finds the positive.
@MrsStrawberry24: I stalk all of those websites! Plus I’ve got my resume at, I think 4 legal agencies… maybe I should start going door to door!

So don’t worry, you will find an amazing job that will make you happy! I’ll keep you in my thoughts and send good luck your way!!! 🙂
