One of our groomsmen is still not sure who he’s bringing to our wedding (in 4 days!). His guest will be sitting at a separate table from him since he’s at the head table. My question is how do I word this mystery guest’s place card?
Right now I have “Guest of John Smith”, but that seems so lame!
Any suggestions or knowledge on what the etiquette gods say?

This sounds crazy to me,why are you guys allowing him to bring a random plus one to the wedding.I don’t think there is polite way to do it. Tell him if he doesn’t have a guest, you need to give final numbers for things, and finish projects so he can’t bring them. I think thats the best move unless there is a really good reason why he has to bring a plus one.

@sikkinott: I agree with twocitybride, or just do not have a place name card there, or put a blank one. Surely most people wouldn’t be able to come with just 4 days notice? I think his opportunity to invite one should have passed. You are very patient to still let someone be deciding 4 days out.
