You can definitely print them!
For my friends wedding a couple months ago, she asked that I print them in my handwriting. I am trying to learn calligraphy to do my own.
Some people also use the print, however, I personally think handwriting looks more personal. Try maybe asking a friend or someone with beautiful handwriting.
She had 200+ guests and it actually didn't take too long either.
As far as making the food choice known, I'm seen people do a couple of different things. One is a colored dot sticker on the back. Another is a small initial in the bottom corner of the back and I've also had the server ask everybody what they ordered when we sat down. They knew how many meals per table, but they just asked who ordered what. It worked well, but it might be hard if you have a lot of forgetful friends or family.
Every wedding I have been to has place cards professionally printed, or printed from a machine--so it must be easy to do--does anyone know how? Is there a computer program?

How can I print my place cards myself? Is there a good program? Or is there an affordable source? I feel like I am on top of this wedding thing and somehow I have NO IDEA what to do here? I will need to denote the specific meal AND the guest's name...HELP PLEASE!
