From a practical perspective, put the charger on the table and as each course is served, plate it in the kitchen and place it on top of the charger to serve. Not only will that be a cleaner, less cluttered look, it will make it much easier to actually get the different courses onto the plates for the guests.

You have a couple of different options.  Some restaurants have plates with which tables are set prior to diners’ arrival, but servers remove these plates prior to serving of the first course.  For this, you obviously would need double the number of dinner plates you had originally planned to use.

Another idea is to have personalized, printed wedding menus on the table where the dinner plates normally sit. That’s what we did. My inspiration picture was of a round, plate-sized menu. However, those would have been much more expensive than the rectangular ones I ended up having printed with our menu on them.
