Placecard help!

posted 6 months ago in Beehive

We have a final list of our guests and are getting our placecards calligraphy done.  I don't love the "Mr. & Mrs. HISFNAME LASTNAME" for married couples and punted on the invites by doing it one way for my mom's and FI's list and another for my friends.  However, this will look awkward on the placecard table.

The only two things I can think of are the conventional way I listed above or just HERNAME & HISNAME LASTNAME which seems kind of informal (our wedding is Saturday night, black tie optional).

Are there any other suggestions on how we might do this?? I need to get the list finalized today!!

I didn't put couples on the placecards, just individuals.  When I sent out invitations, they were "Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Smith" and so on.  The placecards just say Joseph Smith, Ellen Smith, Carol Jones, etc.

I would probably go with the formal way for everyone. Mr. and Mrs. HisFirstName HisLastName for everyone. I think that is the proper way anyway. And especially since your wedding is a Saturday night black tie optional (so is mine). I think it's better to upgrade the formality on the night of the wedding instead of downgrading it.

Do you mean place cards or escort cards? Escort cards should be 1 per married couple, so I would address them how you addressed the invitations. Place cards should be one per person.

For us (also a black tie optional, Saturday night wedding), I did Mr. and Mrs. Joe and Jane Smith on the invites (and will also do this on the escort cards), and Mr. Joe Smith on the placecards (one for each person, so Mrs. Jane Smith would also get her own).

i agree with rebecca--for a more formal wedding include the Mr or Mrs or Ms or Dr in front of the individuals name!
