So I know that placenta lakes are no big deal and many women get small ones throughout their placenta, however, at my last U/S my perinatologist said I have a very large placenta lake. The way he drew it in the picture made it look like half my placenta is just a pool of my blood. Thankfully where the cord attaches it is healthy, normal placenta. But I think the lake grew from the U/S 4 weeks prior. So now he wants to see me back in 2 weeks to check on the growth of baby. He said they don’t know much about placenta lakes and how they affect a pregnancy, if at all. It could lead to placenta abrupta and/or a pre-term baby but it might not affect anything at all. So we just need to keep an eye on it.
Anyone else have a large placenta lake? How’d it turn out for you? Just curious…you know how the mind wanders…
