Hi fellow bees! I've been REALLY thinking about wedding bands lately. I really have no idea what kind of wedding band to get. Really, the only kind of wedding band I like with my current engagement ring is a plain knife-edge band; however, my fiance and I are not completely sold on that idea, so we may actually change up the setting so that I can use a more blingy band (I already own a channel set band that he gave me for our 6 year anniversary that I can use as a wedding band). Oyyy, what a long rant! In any event.........
BEES, SHOW ME YOUR ENGAGEMENT RING WITH YOUR PLAIN WEDDING BAND! I don't think we give enough love to the simplicity a plain band has to offer.
I LOVE plain wedding bands, I'm not sure I would like one with my e-ring, but I do plan on getting a plain band in the future to wear on my right hand. They are just so timeless :)
Sorry, no pics. Just thought I would chime in, hehe, I'm good at it.
Haha...thanks for chiming in :) I really like plain bands too, but I'm wondering if I'd be satisfied with one....making a decision on something you are going to wear for the rest of your life is difficult! I honestly wish I thought of a WEDDING SET before we decided on just an engagement ring...that would've made things so much easier! Anywho, back to plain wedding bands...I don't see many women wearing them anymore (I guess that's the reason why I want to see real pictures)...I always see diamond wedding bands....have you noticed that, too?
I don't have a photo, but I love my plain wedding band. Doesn't get caught on things and matches my husband's.
I'm torn between a plain band and an eternity band myself. On one hand, I love the symbolism and simplicity of a plain band... but on the other hand I love the bling haha! I think I am going to get both and switch it up according to my mood. I'd be getting a moissanite eternity band so it wouldn't be too expensive.
I have a plain wedding band and will post a picture once I am home from work. I thought I had posted a pic of it on a previous thread, but for the life of me I cannot find it...
I'm not married yet, but I am wearing a plain white gold wedding band with my half eternity engagement ring. This isn't the best picture- but all i have at work.
I wear a plain band!!! Its about as plain as they come - sterling silver! I wear it with my platinum and diamond engagement ring. It actually looks really good together (sorry I dont have a picture because Im at work!) but I am going to upgrade to a diamond band at some point in the future!
i'm getting a plain band and might add a diamond band later. we're jewish, so a plain band is a requirement for the ceremony.
I want a plain band. Nothing else looks right with my engagement ring. I don't like having too much bling on one finger and my engagement ring already has lots.
Where are those pics? I am debating. Although I am not a jewelry person, I inherited and wear a big diamond for my wedding ring and do not know if I need more bling.
As promised, ring and plain band! (please disregard that the rings are on my right hand, I am superstitious aka crazy)
I love my plain wedding band. As someone else mentioned, it matches my husband's ring. Plus, I can wear just my band when I don't want to get my e ring dirty or have it catching on everything. I know a lot of people prefer bling or fancy wedding rings, but I love the simplicity of my ring.
No pictures, but I've got a friend who wears two simple, thin wedding bands that frame her engagement ring on either side (band-e.ring-band). It looks beautiful and unique, while keeping a really elegant simplicity. If you do this you might be able to use non-knife-edge wedding bands without altering the ring, since the symmetry will make it all look like a set regardless of what the bands look like. It might also make simple knife-edge bands more appealing to you if you wear them this way. I suggest you try it out at a store and see whether or not it works for you.
Totally chiming in on this as well-
We're getting plain bandsl! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the look of a plain band. There is something so classic and elegant of the plain band. The sybolism is also amazing. I love knowing that I have the same type/style of ring that my grandparents had (which they haven't worn for years...but that's beside the point!!) =)
Also, we're planning on making each other's bands! How romantic is that?!
We are also planning on getting plain wedding bands. In the beginning, I thought I wanted a diamond band, likely because it seemed like that was the norm. But as time went on, I realized I love the simplicity of a plain band and what it represents. I haven't officially tried on wedding bands with my engagement ring yet, so I'll be interested to see how they look together. But confession--I've twisted other rings that I have to mimic the look of a plain band with my engagement ring and I love the way it looks.
@ustechie: Awww, that is so romantic!
I *~love LOVE love~* my simple wedding band!!!!!
FI and I were looking for our wedding bands, and he really wanted to get me two that were all blinged out with diamonds and that sat on either side of my e-ring (like a ring guard). it was very pretty, but I kept going back to the case to stare at the plain, white-gold "comfort fit" band.
The jeweler was already placing the order for the diamond bands when I stopped her and said that I honestly just wanted the plain band.
Not only did I love the way it looked with my e-ring, but I personally love the simple "this-is-all-I-need-to-show-I-love-you" symbolism. I know if I went with the diamond band I would constantly kick myself and wish I had gone with the plain band that I had always looked forward to having.
FI picked out a band (cobalt maybe? to witstand wear-and-tear better) that matches my band really well, and I love the look of a matching wedding ring set. :)
I will have to post a picture when I can, but it won't be for another week until I get home from work.
Here's a pic of my e-ring plus band - I love it!! I always wanted something super traditional, and I'm so happy with my rings. I, too, love the simplicity of a plain wedding band, although I don't think the band looks all that good on my finger by itself. My e-ring is very low profile, though, so I don't think I'd ever need to wear the wedding band by itself.
We didn't have engagement rings at all, but had plain wedding bands:

@2dBride: I love the look of the ring on top of the white gloves--so timeless.
@helstrong--you have exactly the look I want. Is your band just straight, or is it notched or something? I'm having a terrible time finding a band, and my e-ring is similar to yours, only with four sapphires in the middle instead of a diamond. Do you have a picture of the wedding band alone?

I love my plain band! I think it accents my engagement ring, without taking away from it. I'm lucky that my engagement ring it flat on the side (I think because the band is wide- 3 mm), so the wedding band sits flush against it. I can't wait to wear it- just over two months!
I posted about my plain band here, with pictures (I have a new computer so I don't have my pictures on it anymore) I wear both of them together 100% of the time, and I love it!:

Here are ours -
2mm e-ring band
2.5mm comfort fit milgrain wedding band on me
6mm "light comfort fit" (aka very low profile) band on him
I'll be getting a plain band. I thought a small half-eternity would suit my engagement ring, but the plain will look just as nice (probably better!) since since my engagement ring is pretty simple and classic. It was really important to my fiance that the rings match exactly, which was the original plan, so plain it is!
@prettyflowers: Thanks for posting these new pics. Now I am pretty sure that I will be going for the 4mm milgrain comfort -- just a smidge wider than the band on my engagement ring.
Your set is classic and elegant.
As promised, here is mine. The band is a comfort fit 4mm in white gold.
@Jazziberry: So pretty and classic!
All of these photos confirm my decision to go with the plain milgrain band.
I don't have a wedding band yet, but my Mom's engagement ring setting is almost identical to mine, and she wore a plain band for years and it was beautiful. I like the simplicity of it.
Mine is a 4mm plain white gold band & I love it! :-) & My husbands is a 4mm plain sterling silver band.

ine isn't totally plain, it has milgrain edging. But I just got it so I wantes to share. Even though I'm not supposed to be wearing it quite yet haha.
I do! I have a plain gold band that sloped upward toward my e-ring, and has a notch carved out so it dosen't hide the diamond. It's pretty cool in person- kinda hard to see in photos.
