This is a super cute idea. Other things my fiance and I take on long flights include:

eye shade

water bottle with screw lid

small pillow

Good luck!

Love it! I fly about once a month (thankfully, it’s a fairly short flight). I love having my iPad and iPod with me. If your girls have an iPod/iPad, what about getting them an iTunes gift card?

I love the chocolate bar idea, too! If you know of any favorite snacks of theirs, I would definitely include them.

be wary of the water bottles because they wont be able to take them through security unless empty

i have a small pouch (size of a pencil case-its a good size to put in the seat pouch in front of me) and in it i always have a pen (for filling out forms),  facial wipes, retractable ipod/phone and kindle charger, eye mask, travel toothbrush and small toothpaste tube (i got about 20 of these on my last european flight), small deodorant, noise reducing ear phones (a god send on long flights), a snack and a couple of asprins

Maybe earphones, cold medicine (to knock them out), earplugs, gum, scarf (in case it gets cold)

I always keep hand santizer, hand lotion, antibacteria wipes, tissues and a pen in a ziploc.

Just keep in mind that anything liquid/gel, they will have to carry through in a clear baggie … just in case you were planning to package the kit together.
