We’re planning our wedding on a budget. On one hand I think it’s seems possible and should save money. Then on the other hand, it seems like a stressful and time consuming process that a planner could alleviate? What do you think?
Wedding Planner or No planner?

I highly recommend getting at least a DOC to handle everything on the day of. If you have a good planner, you can still do all of your DIY stuff and have them make sure it gets set up correctly on your wedding day. Having at least a DOC will allow you to relax on your day and not have to worry about every little/big detail. If you want someone to help you find vendors, then you will want to get a more extensive planning package.

Personally, I think they’re really only necessary when you’re having a large wedding with lots of guests, BM’s/GM’s, and decorations. If you’re doing it small scale, you probably won’t need one.

i agree with Noritake. i had a DOC (provided by the resort) and she made sure everything was set and ran smoothly. i just had to meet with her a couple of days before my wedding to give her all my decorations and explain how i wanted them set up.

I only had 24 guests and my planner was still very very very worth it 🙂

We’re planning for 200 guests and was getting so stressed out about finding vendors that would best fit our budget. I may have been influenced by my favorite show My Fair Wedding!!!

I cannot stress enough about getting at the very least a DOC. There are many good DOCs that will work for ANY budget.
I’ve been in half a dozen weddings for my girlfriends and none of them have had planners/DOCs. Half of them regretted it. Watching my best friend walking around in her gown in front of guests BEFORE the ceremony to fix her own aisle runner made my heart sink because that moment took away her day. She delegated as much as she could to us, but was in so much panic to get everything right at the last minute, she didn’t think to ask for help for that one thing.
Your wedding is the one day you shouldn’t stress!!! It’s about you and your FI, with your families. And fretting over centerpieces, pew decorations, etc takes away from that.

I enjoyed the planning/diy process of the wedding. I do agree with others though, it would be good to have someone to help you the day of. The owner of our venue did this for us and it was great. The day before we took all of our wedding crap to the venue, I showed her what everything was and where I wanted it to go, and the day of it was all done for me. It was awesome!
