Wow, sounds like you are doing a lot. I am sure the bride will really appreciate it, even if you cant be there.

I'm a bridesmaid for my SIL's wedding. I cannot make it to the shower or the bachelorette since I'm 1000 miles away. I have taken on the task of the decor and invites for the Bridal shower. The invites I will mail from here, and the decor I will make/buy before hand and send with my MIL when she visits after labor day. My current ideas are below. It will be held in a home, ifyou have any other advice or ideas I would like to hear them. This is my first bridal shower planning, and I will be taking on a lot of DIY tasks (I've been inspired by the hive).
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">Here are my ideas so far:

<p style="padding-left: 30px;">My current ideas are as follows (please note, I'm willing to change colors, etc.):
Colors: Orange & Pink
Invitations: I can buy them and print them and mail them if you like!
Here is my inspiration for the entire look.

For decor, I would do Hot Pink/Orange/and Baby Pink ballons, placed strategically in groups of 3's around the room. I would also order one flower arrangement to place at the food table similar in color and scale to this:
As each person arrives they will be given a tag with their name, and a Program/Booklet with the following sections inside:
About the Couple
Crossword puzzle that uses clues from the "About the Couple" section
Bridal Bingo (for the opening of the gifts)
My advise for the lucky bride (tear off that we would then hang from the "Wishing Tree" image that follows)
"Wishing" Tree (would be placed near the dessert table):
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">(It would be designed in the Orange/Pink above.
As they are seated ask them to fill out the booklet. Please try to have all the "my advice" cards filled out first so they can be placed on the tree for Laura to see completely filled.
The bride to be should arrive 15-20 minutes after the start of the event, at which time she would greet everyone. Then you can assign prizes to the two people that successfully completed the Crossword puzzle.
Nex up is the dress the bride game. Split the crowd into groups of 3-4 people, and give them a pre-made box of supplies (I will put it together). One person in each group will be designated "the bride" and the other members of the group will design a wedding dress on "the bride" with only the items in the box. After 10 minutes, Laura will judge the dresses and choose the one she likes best. That team will win prizes.
Finally bride to be can open gifts. During that time people will use their bingo cards and cross off items that she opens. The first 3 people to win Bingo! get a prize. If you like we can ask people to wrap the gifts in cellophane so that the gifts do not have to be unwrapped, preventing messing clean-up.
Ultimately dessert is served, people can mingle and will leave of their own accord.
