My venue was booked up on Saturday nights for Christmas parties so I decided to do an afternoon wedding and go to the casino at night. It sucks as I really wanted an evening reception but I do not want to wait for January to get married.
that's the main reason i want to do this in december too - dont want to wait :)
I'm getting married on New Year's Eve (12/31/12). So far everyone seems excited to have someone to do on New Years! It will definitely be stressful for us with the holidays but I'm hoping to get everything done ahead of time so we can cruise through the holiday season. I could see some issues with traditional holiday parties your families and friends might have.

Hi December '12 Bees! As a Dec. '11 bride - I say go for it. We had a beautiful wedding on a Friday night. About 11 months out when we started planning, all the Saturday dates were booked for the room we wanted, but not because of holiday parties - just because of other weddings. We actually got some deals because our wedding was in December. More of our guests had trouble working around college finals than holiday parties. And just remember - the people who count are the ones that will make it! Best of luck to you all. Enjoy every moment of the planning!
I also first thought about whether December would be a problem for guests because of holiday parties etc. But then I thought heck, if someone would rather go to another party instead of attending our wedding, so be it. Like the PP said, the ones who count will make it! :) And we're sending the invites out early, so people have more notice. I love the idea of getting married in December, instead of having the more traditional summer wedding! :)
I just started planning my December 8, 2012 wedding last week and I have had no problem booking anything. Every site we looked at was available and many photographers told me they slow down in November. I am planning a smaller wedding (90 people) so that is making everything pretty easy. I guess it depends on where you are located but December - March in the midwest is a slower time for weddings.

I'm trying to decide between a December and a January wedding.
For you December ladies, how have you been finding the stress of planning the wedding during the busy holiday season, especially right after Thanksgiving. How about guests, have they had issues with attendance? Did you run into problems with vendors being more pricy or already booked up due to Christmas parties?
