What about somewhere you hav een in Europe? Safe water, excellent food. You can do as much or as little as you want depending on if you are pregnant or not, and if you are, how far along you are and how you are feeling. We went to Barcelona for part of our honeymoon and it was awesome!

I’m 13 weeks pregnant. Personally, I would stay in the US. I’ve felt absolutely horrible the whole pregnancy. Even besides the fact that I wouldn’t feel comfortable in a foreign country, I wouldn’t have felt like doing much so far this pregnancy and I would have felt like we had wasted our money on a big fancy vacation.

CityBearBride:  I planned a road biking trip to Mallorca when we were TTC. We’d started in July and the trip was for October, with one of my girfriends. I ended up not being pregnant yet (conceived the cycle after I came home). In retrospect, I COULD’VE done the trip pregnant….but it would’ve been hard. I was pretty nauseaus and exhausted my first trimester and would’nt have wanted to hop on a bike everyday. The jetlag/time change also would’ve been extra rough, too. I’m an experienced/adventurous traveler with a high comfort zone….so I guess I would say go for it and go wherever you like (I’d stick to developed countries with clean water and good medical care, just in case), just be aware that you might feel crappy. Good luck!

If I were in your shoes, I would still plan a trip but make sure you go somewhere safe (clean water, easy access to good hospitals) and relatively comfortable – if you’re pregnant and feeling sick at that point, you’re probably going to want to make sure you have somewhere comfy to rest.

Just FYI, you don’t have to take malaria pills to go to Belize and you can drink the water in most hotels there. It’s very tourist-friendly.

If I were you, I would still plan my vacation, but just go somewhere you would be comfortable if you were to get pregnant. I think the Europe idea is a great one! Personally, being someone else who has been TTC without luck for several months, I think you can’t put your life on hold because of TTC!

RunnerBride13:  Agreed. We just had some friends that took a trip to Belize when she was about 7 months along- it looked awesome.

Do you really need malaria pills in Belize? I didn’t need them in Costa Rica and that’s further south, so I’d check that out.

I’d be more concerned about you feeling crappy from morning sickness than about safety of the country you’re visiting. Therefore, I’d pick someplacce on the cheaper end of the spectrum so that if you have o spend half the day holed up in the hotel it’s no great loss of money. I’d also choose something that could have a flexible schedule.

my husband and I do this every year too (though we are beach people and try for the caribbean lol) but in 2012 we booked a trip in February (for june) to St.Maarten. I found out I was pregnant in May and was  9 weeks when we went on our trip. We still had a blast! I say book the trip! Maybe a nice cabin in the moutains somewhere? we usually do that for our anniversary every year. Tons of fun and super romantic.

My husband and I are travel junkies… And I’m sure we will take a trip or 2 when I get pregnant. I just read and article about vacationing while pregnant, and the author suggested calling your Dr. if it is a location you are iffy about. Unless it is a high risk pregnancy, I think it’s a great way to relax and get some vacation time in :).

CityBearBride:  We’re going to the UK during the time we plan to be pregnant next year for a wedding.  The only planning we have done is to try to time it so that I am in my second trimester so I will hopefully be past the morning sickness but not so big that I’m uncomfortable on a long flight.  If we’re not pregnant within our window we’ll wait until the trip to TTC.  But since you’re already TTC I say go ahead and book the trip.  Putting your life on hold while TTC will only make you feel worse until you see your BFP.
