- Wedding: August 2015 - Old Courthouse - Cleveland
Hi, ladies! I am planning my wedding for August 2015. Furthermore, I am from Texas and my fiance is from Ohio. I don’t have family from around there so about 60% of the guests will be from out of town. I want to give them a good time on a budget, of course, but I am not sure exactly what there is around there. I can look things up online but I thought I was ask the ladies of WeddingBee first 🙂 Are there any good beaches around there? What local bars/restaurants do you recommend? We might be going with a hotel that is in downtown that offers a complimentary shuttle service (awesome and a must!) so anything within 2 miles would be great! Thank you so much!

Do you need help finding your venue and vendors? Or are you just asking for suggestions to give your guests for fun things to do while they are there?

I grew up in Cleveland, and although I don’t live there, I still make it back pretty often. I’ll be there in a few weeks to visit my friend who lives downtown.
Before we moved to my current city, my boyfriend and I were planning on a Cleveland wedding (we weren’t and still aren’t engaged though!)
For venues, we were in love with the old courthouse downtown. It’s gorgeous (but expensive I hear).
Beaches I would not recommend. There is lake Erie, but honestly, it’s not really nice enough for swimming/laying on the beach unless you go out to Mentor-on-the-lake, which is nice, but a bit of a drive from downtown (maybe 30-40 minutes).
Public square downtown is nice and has lots of restaurants/bars within walking distance. I’m planning on getting a dowtown hotel in my city as well, so that I don’t have to “entertain” out of town guests, just let them walk around and do their thing.
The Rock and Roll hall of fame is downtown, and recommended for out of towners! Right next to it is a museum of some kind. Art museum and natural history museum are also not far.
Let me know if you want any other specifics! I love Cleveland!

If you go to my wedding website, http://www.jackieandbill.com, you’ll see the “local activities” page. Feel free to nab anything. It’s a little geered toward my specific location and time-of-year, but the majority would apply to anyone.

- Wedding: November 2014 - Nazareth Hall
I recommend Tremont and Ohio City areas, both are right outside of the main city and have lots of little shops, bars and restaruants. East 4th is also an entertaining area! There is the casino, west 6th (lots of nightlife/clubs although expensive and not really worth it in my opinion), Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Science Center…
Where were you looking to have the wedding and reception? Hotels in the immediate downtown area can be pricey and it might be worth looking into a suburb of the city…
If you need any help feel free to PM me, I live in a suburb about 15 minutes from the city.
