I'd say book them now if you can, the best ones get booked pretty quickly. Maybe schedule an appt for a trial before Valentine's day? But if a MUA is important to you I'd say go ahead and book them. I'd rather you book too early than too late.
As far as invites go, it depends on what you're thinking about. I'd suggest looking at styles etc right now and deciding what you'd like and then diy'g it. An invite order can take anywhere from 4-8 weeks to produce and return (depending on the stationer of course). If you are diy'g it may not take as long but you definitely need to have some trial runs under your belt.
I had my hair and makeup consults about 2 months before the wedding. Didn't do the other stuff so I don't know about time for them!

We've got a lot of the biggies booked for our wedding - venue, church, DJ, photographer and florist. Our wedding is in October and I'm trying to get an idea of when we should start booking some of our other vendors - mainly:
Transportation - party bus
Hotel blocks for guests
Hair and make up - also, when did you get your trial? I feel like in Chicago a lot of artists book up really fast and the trials are soooo expensive! I can't imagine paying for a trial now when the wedding is so far away. Plus I'd rather have my make up done for our engagment pictures or for a party at least.
Invitations - when did you start getting serious about looking through books or DIY sites?
I've found some planning timelines but would like some real life insights too.
Thanks!!
